Gildan publishes its 2024 ESG Report G


ildan has published its 21st Environmental, Social, and Governance Report which outlines the company’s continued progress against the 10 targets of its Next Generation ESG strategy. Glenn Chamandy, president and CEO of Gildan, said: “Over the years, ESG, which is one of three pillars of our Gildan Sustainable Growth (GSG) strategy, has been foundational to support our low-cost manufacturing operations, unlocking innovative business solutions and our ability to meet changing customer and consumer needs. “Just as importantly, it has also helped us to attract and retain an engaged, experienced, and highly skilled workforce, and maintain the trust and support of the communities in which we operate. Gildan’s 2024 ESG Report


Generation ESG targets as the company: • Reduced water intensity at its operated manufacturing facilities by 25.2% per kilogram produced (compared to a 2018 baseline) by leveraging innovative technologies and proprietary processes.


• Increased the amount of sustainable cotton sourced from 35.7% in 2023 to 77.3% in 2024.


• Doubled the percentage of recycled polyester or alternative fi bre and/ or yarns sourced from 2023 to 2024. • Achieved ISO 45001 certifi cation


FESPA announces passing of Lascelle Barrow O


n Friday, May 23, FESPA announced the death of honorary board member and past president Lascelle Barrow. Known as Las, he passed away on May 22 at the age of 79 after a prolonged illness.


Mr Barrow served as president of FESPA from 1992 to 1996, and from 2013 to 2015. His contributions were recognised when he was made an honorary board member in 2022. Over the past three decades, Mr Barrow helped reshape FESPA and was instrumental in its growth. His understanding of the future potential of digital wide format production helped to launch the FESPA Digital event in 2006.


As a long-standing director of the FESPA UK Association, he was an enthusiastic supporter of the role of FESPA’s member associations in creating value for print businesses at grass roots level. He also steered the licensing of the FESPA brand to national associations, increasing visibility of the FESPA brand globally.

• Recognised as one of Canada’s Best 50 Corporate Citizens by Corporate Knights for the third consecutive year.
