Creative Works Installs Pirate-Themed Mini Golf and ValoArena at Airway Fun Center
C
reative Works, a leader in immersive attractions for the entertainment industry, has completed the installation of a 7-hole
pirate-themed black light mini golf course and a ValoArena mixed reality attraction at Airway Fun Center in Portage, Michigan. Known for its unique blend of bowling, arcade
games, food, and family fun, Airway Fun Center continues to elevate its guest experience with new attractions that immerse players in adventure and excitement. The new 7-hole Black Light Mini Golf course
invites guests to set sail on a high-seas adventure filled with vibrant detail and storytelling. From the moment they enter through the custom pirate archway, players are surrounded by an atmosphere of discovery and danger. Each hole includes meticulously-crafted props and scenic elements such as crate and parrot putt-throughs, a shark breaking through the wall, and a motion-activated gunport that surprises players as they pass. Guests will also encounter an open clam with a glowing pearl, ceiling-mounted fish, a skull

photo opportunity, and the showstopping skull rope bridge arch that towers over the course with motion-activated sound effects. The final hole features a pirate ship with custom projection mapping animations, creating the perfect finale. The attraction is brought to life with colourful murals and Creative Works’ patented Electric Edging, which enhances gameplay with dynamic lighting effects. In addition to the mini golf course, Creative
Works installed a 6-player ValoArena, a mixed reality (MR) attraction that blends physical movement with interactive gaming. Unlike virtual reality, ValoArena requires no headsets or wearables, allowing guests to jump right into the action. Players can choose from seven different games at varying skill levels, moving and competing together in real time. At the end of each session, guests can even share gameplay videos through ValoArena’s built-in photo booth functionality. Tyler Houser, the General Manager, had this to
say about his experience with Creative Works, “I can't speak highly enough about the team and the execution and both products.” He went on to say,
WINTER 2026
“The team again was great. They understood what our objective was to keep the game room open, and they were very communicative and helped us work around that operation.”
