Company Update

Journey acquires Dimension Studio to accelerate global immersive production

J

ourney, the global design and innovation studio known for its work in multidimensional experiences (MDX), has completed the

acquisition of Dimension Studio — a UK-based creative technology firm recognised for its virtual production work across film, episodic TV, animation, location-based entertainment (LBE) and live events. The deal represents a significant step in

Journey’s ambition to rethink design across disciplines and deliver long-term value for audiences and partners. Journey develops experiences that connect

people, brands and culture, tackling complex creative challenges through innovative design. Its work spans immersive storytelling at the Empire State Building, a reimagined operatic production of The Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, visitor engagement at Sphere, and future destination concepts such as Qiddiya. By bringing Dimension into the fold, Journey

strengthens its global footprint, leveraging the studio’s UK base, international network and production infrastructure to support clients around the world. The move also supports Journey’s focus on experience-driven design by integrating Dimension’s technical expertise across virtual production and real-time workflows. Dimension has spent more than a decade

pushing boundaries in real-time production for major films, immersive projects and live shows. Its end-to-end virtual production capabilities and pioneering work with digital humans, real- time animation and spatial storytelling make it a complementary partner for Journey.

A combined force in real-time, AI-driven production Dimension operates at the intersection of real-time technology, production and artificial intelligence, delivering high-speed content creation, virtual environments and collaborative pipelines. As a leader in Unreal Engine-powered and AI-enabled animation, the studio accelerates production through rapid iteration and flexible creative tools. Its real-time systems also support concerts,

LBE projects and multi-site activations, allowing producers to plan and deliver large-scale live experiences with greater precision. With a team based in London and working internationally, Dimension’s client list includes

Disney, Netflix, Amazon, Apple TV+ and Sony Pictures. Its recent work spans Those About To Die for Amazon, Masters of the Air for Apple TV+, Robert Zemeckis’ Here, Universal’s Wicked (parts one and two), and Taika Waititi’s Time Bandits. Dimension Live has also delivered projects for artists including Röyksopp and Floating Points, and major events such as Glastonbury Festival.

Leadership comments Andrew Zimmerman, CEO of Journey, says: "At Journey, we believe the future of design belongs to those who can bridge imagination, storytelling, and technology. "Dimension embodies that philosophy

completely. Together, we’re not just creating new forms of content; we’re inventing new ways for people to experience the world." Steve Jelley, co-founder and co-CEO of

Dimension, adds: "Dimension is a trusted partner and co-producer for filmmakers everywhere, helping them to embrace the creative potential of Real-time, virtual and AI production technologies. "It provides opportunities for everyone to expand

those partnerships to deliver amazing experiences in any medium." Simon Windsor, co-founder and co-CEO

at Dimension Studio, says: "This partnership is as much about people as it is about virtual production and technology. "Journey’s design-led ethos aligns perfectly

with our culture of creative experimentation and production innovation. Together, we can empower clients and visionary creators to tell stories in ways the world has never seen." The acquisition was supported by private equity

group Growth Catalyst Partners (GCP), alongside a new lending agreement with Eldridge, an asset management and insurance holding company. James O’Callaghan, managing director at

GCP, says: "Dimension becoming part of Journey marks an exciting next chapter of growth for the platform—bringing together two world-class creative organizations that share a vision for the future of immersive content, creative technology and digital storytelling. "This partnership helps create a true end-to-

end multidimensional experience studio with the ability to blend strategic thinking with deep creative and technical expertise to deliver solutions across multiple industry sectors and mediums."
