great insights we receive, adding to the insights we capture from our direct guests through the third party surveys and studies we conduct across the season. This has helped us identify and customise most of the rides we offer. Another advantage is our flexible operating model,
allowing us to keep monitoring feedback and if required, even alternate experiences during season.
The Experience Zone looks really interesting. Briefly tell me about each of the experiences and how they are designed to offer something different?
The Experience Zone is something we started to offer during season 22 with the idea of offering entertainment experiences different to our rides, arcades or skill games. These experiences are developed with partners who during the event tendering process are able to present and share concepts for unique attractions to operate within the Carnaval. The tendering process opens very soon after we open the gates for the season to allow time to develop and deliver the concept. We love operating the Experience Zones, as it again adds an additional layer of activity within the Carnaval.
You also have a number of skill games and an Arcade Zone. How important are these areas in terms of adding value to the guest experience? Our partner in this area is HB Leisure and they have devised and introduced a number of concepts that add an additional layer to our guests’ experience. A number of the skill games and arcades offer a multi-player option, something we know is extremely popular in the region, so we now offer this on a large scale to create a real sense of carnival and funfair. Additionally, particularly with skill games, there is the ability to learn and try different techniques as you play, something that means we see a higher number of replays in games than we do any other experience on offer. This is all part of the experience but of course it does mean we see this translate to higher value reloads of point value. These areas also mean that guests have the option of
enjoying a skill or arcade game whilst waiting for their companions enjoying the rides, ensuring a great time at Carnaval for the entire family.
Are there any plans for future expansion? Yes, whilst we have a number of new ride experiences under consideration, we are also looking at how we can extend capacity in key areas as well as the celebrations for Global Village’s 25th anniversary season, which will begin in October 2020. Due to the popularity of our existing Haunted House
attraction, we are working on a new Haunted Mansion ride, “Transylvania Towers”. The ride, which will be the biggest haunted mansion ride in the region, is being customised to fit with the culture and desires of our guests and we think it is going to be very popular.
Are you going to DEAL? If so, what will you be looking for? Yes, the Carnaval management team will be in attendance at DEAL this year; alongside IAAPA Expos this is one of our key calendar events. Focus will be on identifying and starting initial
conversations with suppliers for which new ride experiences we’d like to bring to Global Village for future events.
