Las apuestas online impulsaron incremento del PIB en T2 2024
De acuerdo con el Departamento Administrativo Nacional de Estadística (DANE), las apuestas en línea son una de las actividades económicas que más ayudaron a impulsar el crecimiento del Producto Interno Bruto del país durante el segundo trimestre del año. “Lo que más está jalonando el crecimiento son las actividades artísticas y de entretenimiento, dentro de las cuales se encuentran los juegos de azar en línea, ya que están asociados a las actividades deportivas que hemos tenido en los últimos meses y que dan paso a las apuestas por internet”, indicó Piedad Urdinola, directora del DANE.
Comentando al respecto de las declaraciones de la directora del DANE, el presidente de Coljuegos, Marco Emilio Hincapié, indicó que, en el segundo trimestre del año, los juegos operados por Internet reportaron ventas superiores a los COL$10 billones (US$2.425 millones), siendo las apuestas deportivas las de mayor preferencia por parte de los jugadores. “Este año, los juegos por internet han presentado un incremento cercano al 20 % en las rentas del monopolio
pagadas a Coljuegos. Nos complace saber que el sector de los juegos de suerte y azar está contribuyendo de manera positiva con la economía y la salud del país. Si sumamos todos los conceptos y modalidades de juego, a la fecha ya hemos recaudado más de COL$581.031 millones (US$141 millones). Esperamos que, en lo que resta del año, podamos superar nuestras propias proyecciones y alcanzar un recaudo superior a COL$1 billón (US$243 millones)”, concluyó Hincapié.

COLOMBIA Online betting drives GDP growth in Q2 2024
According to the National Administrative Department of Statistics DANE (Spanish acronym), online betting is one of the economic activities that most helped boost the growth of the country’s Gross Domestic Product during the second quarter of the year. “What is pushing up growth mostly are artistic and entertainment activities, among which is online gambling, since the sector is associated with movement sports activities like we have had in recent months and thus giving way to internet betting,” said Piedad Urdinola, director of DANE.
Commenting on DANE director statements Coljuegos president, Marco Emilio Hincapié, indicated that in the second quarter of the year, games operated over the Internet reported sales of more than COL$10 billion (US$2,425 million), with sports betting being the betting public’s preferred choice. “This year, internet games have shown an increase of close to 20% in revenue in government gambling monopoly revenue paid to Coljuegos. We are pleased to know that the gambling industry is
making a positive contribution to the country’s economy and health. If we add up all gambling concepts and gaming modes, to date we have already raised more than COL$581,031 million (US$141 million). We hope that in the remainder of the year we will be able to exceed our own projections and reach tax revenue collection of more than COL$1 billion (US$243 million),” concluded Hincapié.
