reo que la mejor noticia del mes pasado fue que el proyecto de ley de casinos y bingos seria votado durante este mes en el Pleno del Senado. El proponente del PL 2.234/2022, Senador Irajá, dijo “El asunto ya está listo, está maduro. Estoy muy seguro de que tenemos los votos suficientes”, durante el seminario organizado por la Editora Globo el lunes 26, que también tuvo como participantes a: Celso Sabino, Ministro do Turismo; Hazenclever Lopes Cançado, Presidente da LOTERJ (Loteria de Rio); y Magnho José Santos, Presidente del Instituto Brasileiro Jogo Legal.
De ser así, el PL de casinos y bingos pasaría al despacho del presidente Lula, quien ya ha manifestado que lo aprobaría, para que siga su curso y vuelva a la Cámara de Diputados, donde el PL tiene gran soporte y amplia mayoría. Lo cierto es que, aunque Lula no este a favor de casinos, el Presidente brasileño entiende la necesidad de contar con una industria del juego regulada para que impacte en la economía del país, como se hace en Colombia (ver nota abajo), y muchos países del mundo. Por lo pronto, Brasil ya va viento en popa con el juego remoto y aguardando recibir ciento de millones de dólares por las licencias de operaciones.
Uruguay, es otro de los países donde los casinos forman parte del plan turístico y económico del país, y donde en 2025 volverá a operar el Hotel San Rafael,
remodelado y convertido en un nuevo complejo turístico, en Punta del Este. La nota abajo, también. Además del IR en Punta del Este, casi terminando agosto, el viceministro de Turismo, Remo Monzeglio, anunció que un grupo inversor de Argentina había adquirido el pliego de condiciones para la licitación del Hotel Casino Carmelo, en la ciudad de Colonia del Sacramento, a orillas del Rio de la Plata, con vista a Argentina.
Y después de unos meses, casi sin eventos en la región, volvemos a las andanzas con los eventos GAT de Bogotá (6 Sept) y Santo domingo (18-19 Sept), antes de irnos a Las Vegas para el G2E 2024 del 8 al 10 de octubre, que augura un gran contingente latinoamericano. ¡Allá nos vemos!

think the best news we had last month came from Brazil re the casino and bingo bill that is likely to be voted later in the month in the Senate Plenary. During the seminar organized by Editora Globo on August 26, Senator Irajá, proponent of bill PL 2.234/2022, said that “the matter is ready, it is mature. I am very sure that we have enough votes (to pass the bill).” Participants also included Celso Sabino, Minister of Tourism; Hazenclever Lopes Cançado, President of LOTERJ (Rio Lottery); and Magnho José Santos, President of the Instituto Brasileiro Jogo Legal. If Senator Iraja’s words carried the day, for the casinos and bingos bill would then go to the office of President Lula, who has already stated that he would approve it, so that it can be processed in the Chamber of Representatives, where the PL has great support and a large majority. The truth is that although Lula is not in favour of casinos, the Brazilian President understands the need to have a regulated gambling industry to impact the country’s economy, as is done in Colombia (see note below), and many countries around the world. For now though, Brazil is already going from strength to strength with sports betting and online gambling waiting to receive hundreds of millions of dollars for operating licences. Uruguay is another country where casinos are part of the country’s tourism and economic plan, and where in 2025 the Hotel San Rafael will operate once
again, remodelled and converted into a new tourist complex, in Punta del Este (see in content below). In addition to the IR in Punta del Este, towards the end of last month the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Remo Monzeglio, announced that an investment group from Argentina had acquired the specifications for the tender of the Hotel Casino Carmelo, in the city of Colonia del Sacramento, on the banks of the Rio de la Plata, overlooking Argentina. So, after a few months, with almost no events in the region, we return to our toing-and-froing, with GAT events in Bogotá (6 Sept), and Santo Domingo (18-19 Sept), before we make a dash to Las Vegas for the G2E 2024 from 8 to 10 October, which augurs a large Latin American contingent.
