por resolución de la Corte Suprema, en año pasado, poniendo fin al monopolio nacional se ha allanado el camino para que cada estado pueda lanzar su propia lotería para reforzar sus arcas, con lo cual, los gobiernos de Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais y Río de Janeiro han registrado iniciativas para crear sus loterías regionales. Sin embargo, Sao Paulo ya ha dado los primeros pasos, para lo cual, el pleno de la Asamblea Legislativa del Estado aprobó en la noche del miércoles 23 de junio, el proyecto de ley 359/2021, autorizando, entre otro, la creación de la Lotería del Estado. La creación de la ‘Lotería del Estado de São Paulo’, que tiene como objetivo ampliar las fuentes de financiamiento para importantes políticas sociales dirigidas a personas en situación de vulnerabilidad social, y abre las puertas para inversiones extranjeras en momentos muy difíciles para la economía local. hile the casinos and slots operations continue to open little by little, the sports betting and online gambling segments continue gaining a foothold in Latin America - with regulations, without regulations - some illegally and some just about

Only Colombia and Argentina have full regulations for the gambling and betting interactive segment via Internet Their societies are protected and their treasuries benefit from taxable revenue. Uruguay is part of this, although in its own state-controlled way. Congratulations to them all. Meanwhile in Brazil, the end of the Federal lotteries’ monopoly,


through a Supreme Court resolution last year, has paved the way for each State to launch its own lottery to strengthen its coffers. The governments of the states of Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro are promoting initiatives to create their own state lotteries. However, Sao Paulo has taken the first steps to get its own lottery. The plenary of the Legislative Assembly of the State approved on the night of Wednesday, June 23, Bill 359/2021, authorizing the creation of the State Lottery. The ‘Lottery of the State of São Paulo’ aims to expand resources for financing important social policies aimed at people in situations of social vulnerability; and opens the doors for foreign investment in very difficult times for the local economy.
