AUTUMN ROUND-UP GLI

Improving time to market and reducing costs for customers – Remote Test Beds

T

oday, suppliers are using their creativity and ingenuity to further enhance the player experience by developing more cabinet models with unique

monitor sizes and configurations than ever. Many are large, with several high- resolution flat and curved monitors, which can make them more expensive to produce than past models. Plus, when a supplier creates a new cabinet, they are in short supply. The idea of shipping multiple cabinets to multiple lab locations isn’t the most cost-effective. GLI is constantly and proactively thinking of ways to improve time to market and reduce costs for its customers, and the potential expense of suppliers sending multiple cabinets that will take up residence in a lab got GLI’s engineers thinking: “How can we use modern technology applications to further reduce

supplier costs, enhance regulatory compliance, and speed time to market?” The answer is GLI’s new Remote Test Bed solution. Remote Test Beds use the power of the GLI’s Network to test and monitor devices remotely. This allows suppliers to ship a very limited quantity of devices to their nearest lab that the entire GLI network of labs can then access, further speeding testing time and further reducing supplier costs. The Remote Test Bed technology also has the added advantage of enabling laboratory work to be done remotely. By using technology to solve a pain point for suppliers, GLI has once again positively impacted the larger gaming industry. The solution allows GLI to securely

access test environments connected to physical cabinets and perform all needed regulatory testing, observing and recording actual test outcomes via webcam. By

accessing test environments remotely from all its global locations, GLI can increase the daily test time on a cabinet, decrease the test cycle, and avoid multiple cabinet costs and/or cabinet shipping costs. With Remote Test Beds, GLI is again speeding time to market and reducing costs. GLI further refined this technology to assist with challenges of working remotely and keeping GLI office spaces within temporary government guidelines, should they exist. Remote Test Beds positively impact suppliers, regulators, and operators. Suppliers benefit from reduced costs and improved time to market, even when remote work is mandated. Regulators benefit by being assured that the highest levels of compliance are maintained. And operators benefit by reduced testing times that speed new products to market for their players to enjoy.
