Austria. Over the years, the Industry Forum became a crucial annual event that brings together members, partners and high-level experts in order to exchange views and discuss the latest trends in the licensed land-based casinos, and make it possible to meet up, join workshops and conferences and attend the many social activities that make each industry forum a special moment for its attendees. These events are usually surrounded by a festive and celebratory atmosphere, which would not have been possible to maintain with the current situation and were therefore postponed. Going back to normality might take a year or more. In


the meantime, the ECA will do all it can to assist its members to cope with and hopefully recover from the crisis. The expected drop in earnings will be substantial and the challenge is to preserve as many of the 70,000 pre-crisis jobs as possible in licensed European casinos. Securing the continued existence of casino operations throughout Europe now requires a joint effort on the part of employees, management, owners, regulators, and governments – all of whom have a role to play in ensuring that their local casinos can continue down their previously successful path and overcome the major challenges they currently face.
