Experiential selling can welcome consumers back to the showroom
After more than 12 months of ‘on again off again’ lockdowns and showroom closures when consumers have been more tempted than ever to shop online, how do retailers go about enticing people back to the high street? The answer, as always, lies in offering them an experience that is too good to miss and that simply can’t be emulated on the internet or elsewhere. Consumers want to be able not just to see the products on display, but to be able to relate to them and imagine them in their own home. This is something that is not easy to do with static displays alone, no matter how much you dress them up to make them look realistic. 4D technology engages consumers on a higher level, providing spatial and emotional awareness by enabling them to fully immerse themselves in the design. The showroom floor becomes a stage, the salesman is the narrator, welcoming the customer to their dream kitchen or bathroom before leaving them to walk around it and interact within it. This allows the customer to get a full understanding of the design and to form an emotional connection to the proposed room. It is very much an act of showmanship and spells the future of kbb retail as we know it.
Striking colour ranges proving popular
Comment by Damien Connolly Sales Director, Trade Mouldings Distribution
Since the start of lock down and many people spending more time at home, the demand for home improvements has been huge since restrictions have been eased. Whilst grey shades have been popular in recent years, the move is now clearly towards shades of Blue, Green and even Dusty Pink. At Trade Mouldings Distribution we have added to the successful Navy blue with a suite of doors in Indigo including the popular Buckingham range of 5-piece doors, the Gloss and Matt Larissa J pull doors and the Slab Vogue gloss range. Kombu
Green has been added to the Odyssey laser edged doors and the MTO vinyl range with Dusty pink also added to the vinyl range. All ranges are suitable for Kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and home office, where a splash of colour improves the aspect of any setting.

Think big, be bold!
I've noticed that one positive aspect of lockdown is that it has given us the time to sit back and look critically or constructively at our homes and how we now use our spaces. For many of us, this has developed into a welcome opportunity to repair, refurbish, embellish and generally improve our homes in happy anticipation of potential visitors. Prompted by a sense of individuality, colours, textures, prints and materials
are more vibrant, deep, exotic, and extravagant, driving us to think big and be bold. We are continuously bombarded by trends which influence our choices in life and it is our uniqueness that filters them down to shape what we are and indeed what we want people to perceive us to be. I’ve identified six key themes influencing design today – colour, texture, organic, eccentric, pattern and monochrome. Interpreting these themes has led to us offering our widest choice of colours and finishes ever, with styles ranging from modular minimalism in luxurious glass with metallic accents through to solid timber inspired designs. Let me know if you need anything else.

Brassware in all the finishes is good for business
Brassware is an important part of the overall design of a bathroom and despite all the uncertainties that the last 12 months have brought with them, the market has remained very strong. Basin and bath taps, plus shower brassware have always held excellent potential for the retrofit market and the huge trend towards finishes other than chrome that has been witnessed in the last two years or makes the opportunities in this regard even more apparent. Often chosen to be a standout, focal point of the bathroom, brassware in these finishes also gives retailers a real chance to do something a little bit different with their showroom displays, with lots of options even in a relatively small space. What better way to experiment than by changing the taps on a washbasin or mixing and matching finishes and materials on a full room display? There’s never been a better time to get creative to entice customers into your showroom and with so many brassware choices at your fingertips the opportunity really is now.
