TTA provides support for its members

is provided to members in these sometimes difficult times. One example is a new Briefing Document on the trade rules which

O

now apply to companies who place foreign-made tiles for sale on the UK market. There is still a certain amount of confusion in this area and it is important to be aware that, under the new rules, distributors bringing product into the UK from overseas are now considered to be importers.

Some of the key points to be aware of are as follows: • Products placed on the GB market from 1st January 2022 need to have the UKCA marking affixed. This can be carried on a label or packaging.

• CE-marked product can continue to be placed on the UK market until the end of 2021. Unsold CE-marked products, which have been placed on the market before the end of the year, can continue to be sold after that date.

• The Briefing Document contains a link to the full Government guidance as it relates to construction products.

The Briefing Document can be downloaded from the Members’ Area

of the TTA website. In another initiative, TTA Technical Committee has put together a

Technical Advice Note on the use of tile levelling systems. These are now commonly used when fixing large format tiles and panels, but TTA has become aware that there is a market requirement for advice when using such systems, in view of differing designs, service conditions and tile installations. So the Technical Advice Note has been developed to provide advice and guidance in correct installation and usage. It is intended to be read in conjunction with current and forthcoming British, European and International Standards, in particular BS 5385 and BS 8000-11, as well as the existing TTA Guidance Document ‘Fixing of Large Format Wall & Floor Tiles and Panels in Internal Tiling’. TTA Technical Documents and Advice Notes are

available to download free of charge from the Members’ Area of the TTA website. They are also available to purchase by non-members.

Trend Interiors new colourful and inspirational website

The lockdown has made us more dependent than ever on online and unsurprisingly traffic to the Mereway Group’s Trend Interiors website has increased enormously over the last 12 months. The company has also been able to monitor and interrogate both consumer and trade usage and has responded by creating a brand-new site. Live now. www.trendinteriors.co.uk The new site is

aesthetically more appealing, ; featuring new kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms pages and the new home office collection. The site has massively improved functionality too with intuitive user direction and strategic touchpoints. There is also a clearer distinction between trade and consumer pages. Perhaps the biggest and most exciting change is that the new site is fully optimised for mobile, IOS and Android, use – perfect for consumers and tradesmen on the move. browse, buy and build…

ne of the great reasons for being a member of TTA is the high level of support on a wide range of issues which

at Kinedo, Nicola worked for City Plumbing Supplies (Part of Travis Perkins Group) for five years as a Senior Account Manager. She was involved with new build plumbing contractors and housebuilders and prior to this she worked in sales for over a decade with some of the UK’s leading housebuilders. Nicola is tasked with gaining specifications with regional housebuilders and

to develop sales in the leisure sector as well as within bathroom showrooms. She will also be first line of support for national and independent merchants for both Saniflo and Kinedo. Outside work the mum of one spends her spare time travelling and is planning a wing walking challenge – just for fun.
