BESTOF BRITISH

Celebrating the Best of British manufacturing and design! W

elcome to BKU’s Best of British edition for 2021, a celebration of

all that is great about modern British kitchen and bathroom manufacturing and design. As the country emerges from the latest lockdown, it has never been more important to support our nation’s manufacturers and designers, and to recognise their achievements and the fantastic products they bring to market. In this supplement you will find products for all segments of our industry - not only companies who are pushing the boundaries of contemporary kitchen and bathroom design and manufacture, but also those who are creating classic, timeless appliances. British design and manufacture is in a really strong place today, and we hope to inspire you with our selection of brands and companies in the following pages. It is a fact that our nation’s consumers will

buy British given the opportunity, and there is no shortage of great British companies working in the kitchen and bathroom sectors who will be able to meet the needs of the shopping public, whether that be companies like bathroom range manufacturer Utopia, the UK

brand leader for complete bathroom solutions, who deliver more fitted bathrooms every year than any other UK manufacturer and who have been designing and manufacturing in the UK for almost 30 years; or kitchen manufacturer and design company Masterclass Kitchens, who started in 1975 using second hand machinery to make furniture for family and friends, and now have a 70,000 sq. ft factory with over 200 staff – we have so much to be proud of here in the UK. Of course, the UK has a long history of

classic kitchen and bathroom design and manufacture. Iconic brands such as Rangemaster continue to fly the flag for classic British design. Britain’s best loved range cooker brand, Rangemaster made the world’s first range cooker in 1830 on the very same site in Royal Leamington Spa where it continues to design and manufacture all its 90, 100 and 110 cm range cookers. Its range cookers are at the heart of more homes than any other, helping to create memorable family moments. As Britain’s number one cooker manufacturer, it is a pivotal part of everyday life. Or consider Decorative Panels – a company with a history that stretches back into the late 19th century, but which uses the most modern techniques

today to offer beautiful designs to the kitchen industry. Of course, classic design doesn’t have to have

long roots in history. Take wetroom specialist Impey, founded in 1995 and now blazing a trail as the market leader in the wetroom sector, continuing to lead the field when it comes to wetroom technology and waterproofing systems. Or how about shower specialist Kudos, which for over 20 years has built a reputation for the highest quality and is widely recognised as the UK’s leading independent shower enclosure manufacturer, with every single Kudos product designed in-house and hand-built by dedicated staff. Alternatively, if it’s a bath you’re looking for, then Trojan has you covered – from small beginnings in 1975, the company has become one of the largest manufacturers of acrylic baths in Europe, and it continues to invest in new designs, plant and equipment. At a time when supporting our economy has

never been more important, and brands are showcasing their strong product offerings and letting everyone know that they are open for business, it is only right that we stand with them, stronger than ever and proudly waving the ‘Made in Britain’ flag.
