ften in the past, extraction has been viewed as an afterthought, more of a box ticking exercise than a carefully considered lifestyle decision. But customers nowadays have a wealth of information available to them and are much more knowledgeable than ever before so are carrying out their own research, and more often than not may have decided on the style of hood that would suit their situation and cooking styles before even setting foot in a kitchen showroom.

We tend to see current and future trends early through the ability of customers to design their own hood through the bespoke service. Focal, statement hoods are still on the rise and proving more popular than ever aided by the rise of inspiration rich visual platforms such as Pinterest, Instagram and Houzz. Painted product is on the rise too, along with special metal finishes such a s brass and copper, either to compliment kitchen shades, or as a bold contrast.


Concealed extraction in one form or another, continues to outgrow all other styles and I don’t see this changing. In the UK we have a unique blend of styles and inspirations from all over the world, and the beauty of concealed extraction is that it transcends all these styles, and puts all of the attention exactly where the designer meant it to be.


There is no doubt that, after the halcyon days of the post lockdown home improvement boom for manufacturers and suppliers, customers were being more careful with their money as we saw economic changes. Couple this with the well documented supply issues on (but not restricted to) appliances and construction materials, and sales patterns have been difficult to understand or predict for suppliers and kitchen retailers alike. However, there has been a definite increase in activity more recently and signs we are moving towards a more stable buying environment.

he Westin Prime range of built-in hoods are the most versatile of their type available on the market. collects fumes from a much larger area than conventional base types. All the range includes temperature controlled and dimmable LED lighting, ensuring a perfect match to the kitchen lighting scheme.


The range includes the option to add a remote control, and the Prime built in hood also includes a choice of duct outlet positions ensuring perfect installation without any compromises.
