COLOUR & FINISH TRENDS Louise Murphy

SONAS

BKU’s Matt Broughton caught up with Louise Murphy, Marketing Director for SONAS Bathrooms, to talk goals, qualities, and the always alliteratively appealing “Tactile Texture”.

T

he first half of 2025 has been one of themost exciting and strategically

important periods in SONAS Bathrooms’ journey so far, with the company investing significantly in both its people and its product offering. In the UK, the focus has been on strengthening retailer partnerships and continually enhancing the service SONAS provides. Team expansion, particularly in the UK, and a broad range of new productlaunches have been key priorities. “Our team is making real progress building our reputation for stylish, sustainable, and accessible bathroom solutions that help people create something special in everyday spaces,” LouiseMurphy, Marketing Director, tells me. The company’s overarching goal for 2025 is

very clear: build on the strong foundation laid since arriving in the UK in 2023 and accelerate growth across the market. Louise explains: “A major part of that strategy is investment in leadership, with Dean Stokes’ appointment as our UK Sales Director. With over 30 years of experience in the bathroom, plumbing, and building supplies sector, his appointment is a signal of our ambition for the UK. Dean now leads our growing sales team and deepens relationships with trade and retail customers.” Louise wants SONAS Bathrooms to be synonymous with everyday luxury - stylish, well-designed bathrooms that feel premium but remain accessible. “SONAS stands for affordable quality that never compromises functionality or aesthetics.Whether for a busy family home or a high-spec development, our products help people reimagine their bathrooms. “Beyond design, we aim to be known for exceptional customer support. With a 135,000 sq. ft. distribution centre in Dublin and a dedicated team across sales, technical, and customer service, we’remore than a supplier - we’re a reliable partner to retailers in the UK and Ireland. “Finally, we want people to think of sustainable bathroom solutions. We’re committed to offering water-saving, eco-conscious options across the SONAS collection. As bathroom manufacturers, it’s our responsibility to help homeowners use water efficiently without sacrificing style or performance.”

36 BKU AUGUST 2025

Tactile Texture Tactile texture is one of themost exciting bathroom trends in 2025, and SONAS has fully embraced it. Fluted surfaces add warmth and rhythm, creating spaces that feel personal and calming. Bathrooms are now sensory retreats where people can truly unwind. SONAS’Mirage FlutedWetroom Panels, introduced last year, bring understated elegance and tactile interest, available in brushed gold or matt black. The Reed Freestanding Bath offers a tactile, stunning centrepiece. Launching this August, the Reed Collection

features reeded bathroom furniture designed for tactile appeal. The dual-tone countertop basin comes in colours matching the vanities. With a beautiful colour palette, early feedback shows this collection will be very successful for the company. Sustainability is a core value at SONAS that influences every decision the companymakes. Louise explains: “As a bathroom manufacturer, the biggest impact we can have is through the products we design and supply. That’s why we’ve invested in developing water-saving taps, toilets, and showers - certified by the Unified Water Label. These products enable homeowners to reduce their water consumption by up to 50%,

without compromising on performance. In fact, a family of four could save up to 100,000 litres of water per year by switching to SONAS water-efficient products. “We understand the growing importance of transparency in the bathroom sector. That’s why we became the first bathroom manufacturer in Ireland to gain Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification for sanitaryware in our Horizon and Living ranges. This helps customers make informed choices about the environmental impact of their products. Sustainability isn’t a box to tick for us - it’s a long-term commitment. We continually seek better ways to reduce waste, cut emissions, and help customers make responsible choices.” The coming year will be significant for SONAS

as it strengthens its UK presence. “We will continue to support customers with excellent service, expand our team, and launch carefully designed products that reflect modern living. “Our 2025 Edition 2 SONAS Brochure will introduce the new Living Collection alongside the elegant Reed Furniture range and other product updates. We’ve also launched SONAS Select, a new trade-only offering designed to save tradespeople time, money, and hassle by simplifying the product range.”
