Opportunity to book on burner
programme
Installers are being urged to book the remaining places on Riello’s 2026 burner training programme, with limited availability on several upcoming courses. Held at Riello’s Training Centre
in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, the one-day courses provide practical and technical training across residential, commercial, modulating, gas and dual-fuel burners. Sessions cover burner selection and matching, commissioning, servicing and fault-finding. Remaining availability includes
Riello Gas Commercial Burner and Riello Gas Modulating Burner courses in September, alongside the Riello Electronic Gas Modulating Burner course. The programme is designed to help engineers build practical knowledge and confidence when working with Riello burners.
Courses cost £210 + VAT per
candidate, including lunch and refreshments. Some advanced modules require prerequisite courses and, where applicable, Gas Safe registration. Engineers are advised to book early as places are filling quickly. ◼

Chance to skill up with Worcester Bosch
A new four-level training programme is now available from Worcester Bosch to help installers build skills in heat pump installation and businesses to diversify. The Skill Up Training Programme combines online learning with practical sessions at Worcester Bosch training academies. It covers heat pump fundamentals, installation techniques, MCS requirements and advanced topics including refrigeration circuits, split systems and diagnostics. Installers can complete the first two levels for
Redditch centre aquired by Smart
Smart Energy Training has acquired Redditch-based SWAT Gas, expanding its training provision across gas, plumbing, heating and renewable energy. The deal, for an undisclosed sum, is the
company’s fourth acquisition of 2026, following purchases of Energy Training Centre in Nottingham, Elements Training & Assessment in Stourbridge and Brookhouse in Yorkshire. Founded in 1999, SWAT Gas supports
around 2,000 engineers each year with qualifications including ACS and the Managed Learning Programme for new entrants. The business has eight trainer assessors, comprising five full-time staff and freelance contractors. Paul Drew, director of Smart Energy
Training, says: “We are delighted to complete this acquisition and to bring SWAT Gas into Smart Energy Training and the wider Realise Training Group.” He adds that apprenticeships would be
introduced alongside existing programmes. ◼

Battery system to boost training
A new training installation will give learners and industry professionals practical experience of renewable energy and battery storage technologies at a decarbonisation centre in Wales. Puredrive Energy, the authorised manufacturer of Duracell Energy home battery products,
has partnered with housing association Adra to install a fully operational renewable energy system at Tŷ Gwyrddfai in Penygroes. The system will provide a hands-on
resource for learners, apprentices and professionals developing skills in low-carbon technologies, covering areas such as system design, installation and battery storage. Sion Hughes, director of policy and
delivery at Adra, says: “Tŷ Gwyrddfai was established to help build the skills and knowledge required for a more sustainable future. Working with Duracell Energy enhances the practical training opportunities available at the centre and provides learners with access to industry- leading renewable energy technology.” ◼

Free boiler installation and commissioning courses
Free training courses are being offered by Vokèra to help installers build their knowledge of heating technologies, with both in-person and online options available. Consisting of online webinars and in-house training days, the courses
cover installation, commissioning and fault-finding, and are designed to help installers keep up to date with advancing technologies and practices to widen their knowledge, build their confidence on installs and have the opportunity to ask questions to Vokèra’s expert technical team. For those who cannot attend the training centres or commit to full
days of training, Vokèra offers online live courses via webinars, which are held conveniently in the early evening, covering the same topics but condensed to 90 minutes, with a Q&A with the technical training team. “Training remains fundamentally important for installers. It’s essential for those who wish to keep up to speed with the latest gas boiler, renewable and control products,” says marketing director Neil Mattock. ◼
