models, with 4, 6.5 and
9kW units initially available and larger outputs of 12 and 15.5kW coming early next year. The R290 refrigerant boasts
a low Global Warming Potential (GWP) and, by using a natural refrigerant which is a pure hydrocarbon, the new monobloc heat pump delivers a more environmentally friendly heat pump solution. Featuring a durable, powder coated black casing, the Aerona
290 heat pump’s appearance has been developed following customer feedback. Meanwhile, the ultra-low noise levels of the units, which have achieved Quiet Mark accreditation, are the result of innovative sound- reducing features within the unit including acoustic cotton sound insulation in the casing and anti- vibration feet. The units can be monitored
and managed remotely, giving users good control of their heat pump system and assisting installers with offsite diagnostic support when required. Available with a 7-year
guarantee when installed by a G1 Installer, the Aerona 290 has been tested to perform in extreme temperatures from -25°C through to 35°C. ◼

Flexible heating and cooling system
New from Daikin is an energy-saving system that combines an air- to-air heat pump with a domestic hot water tank and air purification unit. The Multi+
system can be programmed to meet an individual user’s needs for heating, cooling and hot water. It also features a weather-dependent setting, where the water temperature is determined automatically by the external temperature. If the outdoor temperature drops or rises, the unit compensates instantly without requiring user adjustment. Where space cooling and hot water are
Heat pump for larger scale applications
Claimed to provide unparalleled performance and sustainability for larger properties, public sector applications and small- to mid-scale commercial installations, the Vitocal 250-A Pro is a new 40kW air source heat pump from Viessmann. Providing both heating and
cooling within a single appliance, the new unit boasts an impressive Coefficient of Performance (CoP) of 5.32 at A7/W35 (outside air temperature 7°C and DHW 35°C) and is energy rated A+++ for both low and medium temperature applications. It also uses the climate-friendly natural propane refrigerant R290.
Installation is aided by
factory-installed operating and safety devices and, thanks to its maximum flow temperature of 70°C, it can be used with existing radiator systems when required, making it ideal for larger modernisation projects. Vibration decoupling and sound jacketing
also help to ensure that the Vitocal 250-A Pro is very quiet to run. “This is a premium heat pump
that fills a gap in the market for a highly efficient, propane solution for larger installations,” says Viessmann product manager Hugh Jones. ◼

required at the same time, the electric booster heater ensures that the water is at the right temperature. Depending on the priority setting, demand for hot water or heating/cooling can be met at any time. The solution is said
to provide an ideal replacement for Domestic Hot Water (DHW) systems, where air conditioning is also being
installed. Plus, with a maximum pipe run of up to 50 meters, it provides greater flexibility in selecting its location. A variety of indoor units, including wall-mounted,
floor-standing and concealed ceiling models, are available to meet customer preferences. ◼

Concealed shower system simplified
A new shower frame specially designed for concealed shower systems has been developed by Grohe to help installers meet increasing demand for behind- the-wall solutions. The Grohe Rapido Shower Frame comes with pre-assembled components, such as mixed water pipes and concealed elements, while a leak test performed before delivery ensures that installation can be completed in just a few steps. With an installation depth of just 77mm, the height
adjustable frame fits into almost any wall, while Grohe wall brackets enable on-the-wall installation when required. “We see it as our job as a manufacturer to respond
to current challenges in the industry and thus support our professional partners in their daily work as effectively as possible,” says senior product manager Lewis Neathey. “With this compact solution, more concealed shower systems can be installed in the same amount of time.” For extra peace of mind, the Rapido Shower Frame
comes with a 10-year warranty. ◼

Designed for use in high demand commercial applications, the new Heatrae Sadia Supreme Evo from Baxi is said to be the company’s most energy-efficient instant hot water dispenser. Building on the tried- and-tested technology of the Heatrae Sadia Supreme, the new premium model is the first instant hot water dispenser to benefit from Heatrae Sadia’s space-saving filter-inside design, a one-touch digital dial and a new ‘learning’ thermostat. The result, says the company, is better tasting filtered hot water, enhanced control and faster installation, commissioning and servicing. Equipped with smart Intelliboil Plus technology to
monitor usage patterns, the Supreme Evo also offers effective energy management for building operators. This feature ensures the water is brought on to boil to match user demand while reducing the temperature by 10°C after an hour of inactivity to optimise efficient energy usage. Alternatively, heating times can be preselected using an in-built seven-day programmer. ◼
