Pre-plumbed cylinder for air source installations
With the increasing demand for air source heat pumps (ASHPs), Baxi is helping engineers simplify and speed up installations with the launch of its ASHP pre- plumbed cylinder.
Designed specifically to work
with Baxi ASHPs, the cylinder helps installers save time on installation, as much of the pipework and fittings are already in place. Additionally, the cylinder comes pre-wired, further simplifying and reducing time needed on electrical connections. The new cylinder is available
in capacities of 170, 210, 250 or 300 litres to ensure installers
have the flexibility needed for a wide range of projects, with its compact footprint also enabling
installation into an airing cupboard. Due to its extra-large coil designed specifically for use with heat pumps, Baxi’s ASHP pre- plumbed cylinder delivers faster heating times and increases
the availability of hot water. The cylinder is well-suited to homes with multiple bathrooms thanks to high flow rate of 76 L/min and its in-built back-up immersion heater. The intuitive integrated controller enables direct control of domestic hot water and central heating. With the addition of an optional accessory kit, heating can be controlled across two zones. To simplify commissioning, the cylinder comes equipped with Bluetooth connectivity so that engineers can wirelessly connect to the Baxi Commissioning Tool via the Baxi Start App. If used alongside the Baxi uSense 2 Smart Room Thermostat, the homeowner can access remote comfort control. Manufactured from duplex stainless steel for superior quality and corrosion resistance, the tank comes with a two-year warranty as standard, with 10 years on the inner tank. ◼

Hybrid system allows for customising
To meet the demands of improving energy efficiency in homes, and to offset the challenges of heat pump installations, Alpha has launched the Alpha Custom Hybrid – a customisable system that combines a heat pump with a boiler. A built-in smart control automatically selects the most efficient heat source based on real-time demand, aiming to reduce carbon emissions and increase energy savings. The Custom Hybrid can provide extra heating capacity when the heat pump alone is insufficient, making it suitable for homes that may not fully support a standalone heat pump. Installation is streamlined with the Hybrid Interface Kit, which connects a single-phase Magis M heat pump to Alpha’s E-Tec or Evoke boiler ranges. This kit fits directly beneath the boiler for quick installation. Users can choose heat pump outputs up to 16kW
to meet specific heating requirements. The system’s smart control continuously monitors and manages

New pump leaves the bronze age behind
Wilo has introduced the Yonos PICO-Z, a new secondary hot water circulation pump designed to replace traditional bronze pumps, which will be phased out by August 2025. The Yonos PICO-Z off ers a modern, energy- effi cient alternative, addressing concerns about the outdated technology of bronze pumps, which typically feature only three fi xed speed settings and can consume up to 100W. The Yonos PICO-Z
both the heat pump and boiler to maintain desired room temperatures, activating the boiler for additional heat as needed. Dan Wilden, national renewables manager
at Alpha, says: “The Alpha Custom Hybrid provides a robust, flexible solution for delivering energy efficient heating and hot water, whilst simplifying the installation on site.” ◼

provides 42 adjustable fl ow rate settings, displayed on an LED screen, alongside a constant pressure setting to maintain system balance. This allows for energy consumption as low as 4W, resulting in potential reductions of up to 70% compared to bronze pumps. Constructed from stainless steel, the Yonos
PICO-Z is resistant to rust and corrosion, ensuring compliance with UK Water Supply Regulations for potable water. Its design simplifi es installation with the Wilo Connector for tool-free wiring and a rotatable pump head to prevent installation errors. Additional features include automatic or manual venting and automatic de-blocking. ◼
