Stockport academy
A new training academy has opened in Stockport designed to provide a dedicated centre of excellence for engineers to train on the latest heating and cooling technologies. The facility has been set up by Carrier Solutions UK to off er education and support for HVAC engineers across the UK and will feature products from the company’s Viessmann and Vokèra brands, as well as Carrier and Toshiba residential and light commercial HVAC equipment. Converted from a former
warehouse, the new training centre spans approximately 1,300m2 and will provide an opportunity
Get a £500 discount
Installers can benefi t from a £500 discount on air source heat pump training courses, following new funding awarded to GTEC Training through the Midland Net Zero Hub. The initiative reduces the standard price of the three-day course from £660 to £160 and is available at a number of locations across the UK,

The UK’s fi rst dedicated hydrogen training centre for Gas Safe registered engineers has offi cially opened at Fife College’s Levenmouth Campus. The facility will train over 100
Gas Safe registered engineers this year, equipping them with the green skills needed to safely convert homes from natural gas to hydrogen. This training is essential for the engineers who will be involved in SGN’s green hydrogen trial, H100 Fife, which will supply green hydrogen to homes in Levenmouth through a new purpose-built network. Guidance on modern plant room surveying
The latest CIBSE-approved CPD from Ideal Heating Commercial is focussed on the modern plant room. It addresses plant room surveying, along with the evolution of the plant room and heat source technology over recent years brought about, in part, through legislation and product innovation. ‘Surveying the modern plant
room – from boilers to heat pumps’ CPD provides invaluable advice on the various stages involved in surveying a plant room: from assessment and the requirements for a replacement heat source, through to the potential risks associated with heating system replacement and how to identify these.
It concentrates on modern,
energy-effi cient plant room retrofi ts using heat pumps. Hybrid systems, which include heat pumps with modern condensing gas boilers as a back-up, are also addressed as an alternative solution where heat pumps alone are not feasible. The course also looks at latest legislation and regulations, and touches on best practice when commissioning. Targeted at a wide audience
of mechanical engineers, sustainability professionals and building contractors, the course aims to equip participants with the skills needed to navigate the complexities of decarbonisation in the heating sector. ◼

A new online training course for the Aerona 290 Air Source Heat Pump has been introduced through the Grant eLearning Academy, aimed at installers seeking to enhance their skills in renewable technologies. The course, available on-demand, consists of 12 modules covering installation, commissioning, servicing, and troubleshooting specifi c to R290 heat pumps. First launched in 2020, the
eLearning Academy off ers a range of resources for professionals in the
heating sector. The latest course features interactive elements and a refreshed layout, allowing learners to navigate the modules at their own pace. Each section concludes with a quiz, and upon completion of all modules participants can take a fi nal assessment to earn a certifi cate. Successful candidates will also be eligible to apply for the G1 Scheme for Grant air source heat pumps. ◼

Burner Systems (CBS), Bosch Home Appliances and MeteRSit. It will ensure that engineers gain the knowledge and competency to safely install, test, and maintain hydrogen appliances and heating systems in domestic settings, advancing the UK’s transition to green energy solutions. Every engineer taking part will gain an offi cial hydrogen qualifi cation added to their Gas Safe registration. Training will be delivered in Fife
by expert trainers with experience in delivering gas training with support from industry professionals. SGN has developed the courses in partnership with Fife College for the past two years, alongside key stakeholders. ◼
