AMD’s Omar Fakhri
Omar Fakhri is AMD’s Director of Component Channel in EMEA and has been with the company for more than eight years. His primary responsibility is managing the EMEA sales team and working with channel partners to help sell AMD CPUs and graphics cards across the region. PCR sat down with Omar to discuss the past two years, the current priorities of the business and his plans for the future.
Here’s what Omar Fakhri had to say.
What have been AMD’s priorities for the past two years? For context, our priority in 2020 was to accelerate AMD’s gaming business. Te market was already expanding, which was great, but we wanted to achieve a bigger share within the market overall and especially at the premium end. Tis was why AMD launched its AMD Ryzen 5000 Series desktop
processors. Tis range is squarely aimed at the performance segment and gamers. Te Ryzen 5000 Series are the fastest gaming processors on the market so having a technological edge like that makes it easier for us to take our story to the market proactively. In 2020 we were also focused on our ‘AAA’ strategy, which means working with our system integration partners to enable systems with
AMD graphics cards, AMD processors and AMD soſtware into the market. AMD is the only company in the world with both high- performance compute and high-performance graphics technology and the expertise to combine them into differentiated solutions for customers across the data center, PC and gaming markets. Another major priority for 2021 is the workstation market, with
AMD Ryzen Treadripper and Treadripper Pro processors being the jewel in our crown in this segment. We believe we can make a significant difference to the quality of the user experience in this area as these products are specifically designed with creators, developers, and PC enthusiasts in mind. Te AMD Ryzen Treadripper Pro processor variants expand on the leadership performance by adding enterprise-grade security and manageability. As such, our top priorities for the remainder of 2021 are enthusiast
gaming, AAA systems integration and working closely with our partners, whether that’s in the consumer space, commercial SMB segment and high-end desktop/workstations. Now more than ever, we are incredibly focused on driving AMDs business into these market segments and continuing to offer support to the channel partners who specialise in them.
What are the biggest differentiators between AMD and its main competitor? Te key differentiator is how closely we work with and support our partners. Te AMD sales team is deeply committed to helping our partners execute, introduce the latest products to their portfolios, and our partners know they can call on us for knowledge and support at any time. Our product lines are a huge differentiator for us in the market right now and our technology leadership is a key element of AMD’s
