News Snowflake opens UK office amid strong momentum across EMEA

SNOWFLAKE is opening a new UK office and Customer Experience Centre (CEC) in London, providing an ultimate workplace experience to employees and an area for collaboration with prospective clients. This coincides with a period of growth following a successful fiscal 2023, which saw the company continue to shift the EMEA sales team to a vertical-focused model. Snowflake also sought to drive wider customer adoption and consumption in the region, deliver developments and innovations related to data and application collaboration, and increase availability of its developer offerings with the GA of Snowpark. In FY23, Snowflake’s product revenue in EMEA grew 72% YoY. The company also expanded its team in EMEA by 68%, reaching 1,289 in total as of January 31, 2023. In the UK specifically, Snowflake announced its availability on Microsoft Azure, a key milestone driven by high customer demand for local data residency both in the private and public sector. The new UK office will occupy 3,434 square metres in the heart of the city, near Liverpool Street, and is doubling in size capacity-wise. Sustainability is also at the heart of the new office. The building is cladded with a terracotta facade that has a low carbon emissions rating, and ensures the cooling and heating systems within the building remain in balance and highly efficient. The building also maximises heating efficiency by utilising a shared energy centre. Furthermore, all third-party

vendors, such as hospitality and cleaning staff use entirely ecological and free pesticide products. None of the devices collected as part of the trade-in are sent to landfill and it is anticipated that over 70% will be eligible for re-use. This equates to over 7,000 tonnes of carbon emissions being avoided. Not only that, but carbon credits from Forest Carbon on all purchases provide future offsetting of the new devices for at least three years, saving an

additional 9,000 tonnes of carbon.

Mr Fitch added: “The importance of driving forward sustainability in the IT sector is something that Consenna has championed for a long while and with levels of IT investment in UK education growing, it was vital for us to ensure this was the most sustainable programme of its kind that the sector had seen.” Speaking on behalf of HP, Mike Pope, UK&I senior commercial category team lead, concluded: “Improving education outcomes is a key part of HP’s digital equity strategy. Consenna, with its deep understanding of the education marketplace, understood this and the result was Brighter Futures. “We’re proud to have helped schools replace well over 20,000 devices in the last year and look forward to working with Consenna as we enter the programme’s second year with a commitment to further build the programme to have even more impact.”

Westcon-Comstor and Nokia extend distribution agreement in EMEA

WESTCON-COMSTOR is further expanding its sales partnership with Nokia, two years after the partnership’s launch. Effective immediately, the value- added distributor (VAD) will market the Finnish manufacturer’s solutions across strategic European markets and begin offering the entire network portfolio. Westcon and Nokia have been working together in Germany since 2021. Up until now, the partnership has focused exclusively on marketing the Nokia Digital Automation Cloud (DAC) private wireless and industrial digitalization platform solutions. After a successful first year of cooperation, the decision was made at the beginning of 2023 to significantly expand the distribution agreement. In the coming months, the two partners will extend their partnership throughout the EMEA region, starting with Belgium, the UK, Portugal, and Spain and sustainably grow their footprint in these regions. At the same time, the product range will expand significantly. Westcon will market Nokia’s entire network

portfolio in addition to 4.9G/5G private wireless solutions. The Finnish manufacturer is one of the leading providers of sophisticated network and IP infrastructure solutions. The offering ranges from IP network components and optical network solutions to private optical enterprise networks. “We’ve struck a chord in Germany with Nokia DAC private wireless

solutions. The technology scores in many wireless scenarios where WLAN is not an option. Therefore, it’s very popular with both end-users and channel partners,” explained Marianne Nickenig, VP networking and infrastructure EMEA at Westcon. As well as the expansion of the distribution agreement,

Westcon is also working to expand the Nokia indirect reseller partner network. The VAD supports potential reseller partners with a broad range of value-added services, ranging from presales support to professional and technical services, to sales and technical training and also provides support in English.
