an incredibly tight circle. The materials used in their systems are sourced from within a 150-mile radius of Abermule. This proximity isn’t just a point of pride; it’s a strategic advantage. It allows Pete, the lead engineer, to walk downstairs and tweak a design based on a morning’s feedback, or Nigel to catch a minute tolerance issue before it leaves the building. “Products have to solve a problem,” Elliot explains. It’s a philosophy born from experience. Before the engineering degrees and the Dragons’ Den investment, Elliot had a job in a Cardiff bike shop. “I remember opening the shop and spending 45 minutes every morning moving bikes out, and another 45 minutes every evening bringing them back in. I’ve developed products for me, really, because I know if it makes sense for me and solves that frustration, it’s going to make sense for so many other people with the same problems.”

Building Better The high standard of manufacturing goes beyond what you’d see in ‘traditional’ storage. Every SpaceRail

hook begins its life as laser-cut stainless steel. To the untrained eye, they arrive looking ready to go, but they are immediately put through a vibratory finishing process. This rhythmic machine is filled with stones and water to soften every rough edge. From there, they are dried, chamfered, and hand- polished. “We haven’t had a single return for a faulty product in five years,” Bryn Bryce, who works in marketing, notes as we tour the factory. And the engineering holds up to the e-bike era. Each hook is rated for 30kg, the SpaceRail system is designed to turn a time-consuming bike shuffle into something that takes a few seconds. By allowing bikes to stand upright and slide apart, Stashed say their systems deliver a 50 per cent reduction in floor space and a 15 per cent improvement in workshop throughput. For UK retailers, that localised supply chain translates to quick turnaround. While there’s often a wait on shipping, Stashed offers a one to two-day lead time for standard UK business orders. Even for custom-measured systems, the team says it’s possible to have a bespoke solution out the door in less than a week.
