INDIE Live Expo

Harkening back to a time when gaming events were conducted exclusively online (seems a long time ago now doesn’t it?), Indie Live Expo is threatening to unleash more than 500 titles across two days of livestreamed showcases. By our calculation that’s more than ten games an hour, so if you’re aiming to tune in to discover the next big thing, you might want to do so in shifts. Helpfully, the first day is devoted to showcasing already available titles, with the second featuring all the big reveals and updating us on all the indie games in development. The last Indie Live Expo back in November teased the likes of Cat Cafe Simulator and Guns Undarkness (from Shoji Meguro of Persona and Shin Megami Tensei series fame), so we have high hopes.

Gaming’s first mascot is back in a compilation of games that collects together pretty much everything that the yellow pizza dude has appeared in, from the 1980 arcade original to 2007’s excellent Championship Edition. New to this 14-game selection box are Pac-In-Time (1995), Pac-Motos (2007), Pac’n Roll Remix (2007) and Pac-Man 256. Pretty comprehensive then, so long as you overlook the bizarre omission of Ms Pac-Man, widely considered to be the more competent of the Pac family’s early incarnations.

Sniper Elite 5

Being sandwiched in between the release of Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney Plus and Top Gun: Maverick at the cinema, Sniper Elite 5 might well find itself relegated to a second screen for the first days of its existence, but it won’t be long until players are enjoying the sights of Nazi-occupied Normandy. As well as the new location (after visits to North Africa and Italy during previous episodes) and an enhanced Kill Cam that promises to be “more realistic and grisly than ever”, we are looking forward to sampling the game’s Invasion Mode. New to the series, it allows others players to jump into your campaign and play the role of a Nazi sniper, sent to hunt you down. Other games have been doing this kind of thing for years – Dark Souls and Dying Light spring to mind – but in Sniper Elite the feature could well find its natural home.
