Lantmännen Unibake UK has announce the appointment of its new Managing Director, Wendy Smith. Wendy succeeded Tim Robinson on 10th October, as he handed over the reins after 10 years within the UK business, following his promotion to Chief Strategy Officer for Lantmännen Unibake (Group), whilst continuing his current role as a business area Chief Operations Officer. Wendy joins the UK business with a wealth of experience, having worked her whole career within the UK food market sector.


With over 15 years of leadership experience, from roles in many of the UK’s powerhouse food manufacturers including Northern Foods, Samworths and Bakkavor. Wendy is an avid foodie, with an inquisitiveness that extends from new products and trends to the technological and cultural impacts on the UK food market. The combination of her interest in food and experience in the industry makes Wendy well placed to take up the fresh challenge of leading Lantmännen Unibake UK.


Roberts & Sons, Hovis and Warburtons to manage an industry wide bakery equipment solution, has appointed baking industry veteran Simon Devereux as its new Chairman. Devereux brings over 30 years’ experience within the food and baking industry, with a career spanning a wide range of operational, supply chain and general management roles in addition to Board level positions in PLC, Private Equity and Pension Trustee environments at companies including RHM, Premier Foods, Promise Gluten Free and Modern Baker. Notably, he was Chief Operations Officer


for Hovis for more than two years before taking up the role of Transformation Director. During this time, he was accountable for all supply side aspects of the Hovis business including manufacturing, logistics, procurement, technical and supply chain planning, as well as leading numerous transformation and M&A projects.


AMF Bakery Systems announces promotion of product team leader Wes Bryant


AMF Bakery Systems (AMF) has announced the promotion of product team leader, Wes Bryant, to the role of product group leader and executive product manager for AMF Workhorse, an AMF Bakery Systems brand. In this role, Bryant will lead the AMF Workhorse team focused on developing innovative solutions for pan and peel board handling, automated storage and retrieval systems, as well as all post-packaging automation solutions.


As Product Group Leader, Bryant assumes overall business leadership and product strategy responsibilities for AMF Workhorse with aggressive growth plans across applications for soft bread and bun, artisan breads, pizza, flatbreads, cakes, pies, pastries, and more. He will be supported by the commercial and operational leadership of AMF Workhorse by Bryan Didas of AMF’s Richmond, VA facility and Colin McShane of the Kirkwood, PA facility.
