The Asia-Pacific chocolate and confectionery market maintained strong momentum in 2024, according to a June 2025 update from IndexBox. The report reveals that while output volume dipped slightly by 0.1% to 25 million tonnes, the total production value climbed to $132.7 billion, marking a 6.6% year-on-year increase. The figures suggest a growing consumer appetite for premium products and a trend toward higher unit values in chocolate production.

China continues to dominate production, accounting for 9.4 million tonnes—roughly 38% of regional output—followed by India (3.7 Mt) and Pakistan (1.7 Mt). On the consumption side, Australia leads in per capita chocolate intake at 19 kg per person, with Japan (16 kg) and South Korea (14 kg) close behind, 

quality-conscious markets. The report also notes a     imports across the region. Import volume rose 8.6% to 1.3 million tonnes, while import value surged to $7.8 billion, up 66.6% since 2020. This growth underscores Asia’s rising demand for diverse and high-end chocolate offerings, including organic,

bean-to-bar,

and sustainably sourced products. While the slight contraction in volume suggests a post-2023 market adjustment,

the data

points to robust and resilient demand fundamentals. Analysts forecast a 1.4% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in volume through 2035, driven by a growing middle class, evolving tastes, and increased focus on ethical and functional ingredients.

From SNAP in Arkansas and Idaho NCA releases statement on signed waivers to ban chocolate and candy From SNAP in Arkansas and IdahoIn response to U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins signing waivers to ban chocolate and candy from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in Arkansas and Idaho, the National Confectioners Association released the following statement:

non-SNAP households,

“This policy approach is not needed when it comes to chocolate and candy. About 2% of SNAP  less than other categories like soda, prepared desserts, salty and savoury snacks, and baked goods. And unlike those other purchases which SNAP participants buy in far greater quantities than

candy

purchasing patterns are basically equivalent between SNAP and non-SNAP families. People in the U.S. enjoy chocolate and candy 2-3 times per week, averaging just 40 calories and about one teaspoon of added sugar per day. Consumers have a unique mindset when they enjoy chocolate and candy that is not present when interacting with other foods – whether or not they  purchases. Furthermore, 89% of Americans believe that physical health and emotional well-being are interconnected,

chocolate and candy can be an affordable way to enhance the special occasions and meaningful moments of all Americans regardless of income level.”
