Richer Sounds, Sidwell Street

JOINT WINNING MULTIPLE

I was looking to buy a sound bar or sound base. Inside the store, I was greeted by Steve; I told him that I was very happy with the 49-inch TV I bought two months ago, but I was disappointed by the tinny sound that accompanied every kind of TV viewing, but particularly with films and sport. Steve immediately recommended a product. The Sonos Beam was priced at £399 and he said it was available in either white or black and could be mounted, with a bracket that was priced at £59. He said that the benefit of buying a Sonos Beam was that I could then add other Sonos products to my network. Steve said that setting up the Beam was simple via the Sonos app.

He mentioned that I could also consider

purchasing two Sonos Play:1 components, which were priced at £149 each. He said that this would give me a surround system. With the bass offered from the Sonos Beam, Steve said that I may not need to purchase the Sonos Sub, which was priced at £699.

Lakeland, High Street

JOINT WINNING MULTIPLE

THIS store is on the busy High Street and is located between the Riddle & Rye bar and Urban Outfitters. I was looking to buy a soup maker. Inside the

store, I was greeted by a member of staff and made my way to the first floor, which is where the appliances are displayed. I was greeted by Heike, who asked if I needed any help. I explained what I was looking for and she led me to the products. The first product she presented was the Tefal Easy Soup Maker (BL841140), which was priced at £69.99. She explained that the product can make up to 1.2 litres of soup, but she also mentioned that it also makes compotes, smoothies and shakes. The second model she presented was the Cuisinart Soup Maker Plus (SSB3U), which was priced at £124.99. Heike said this four-speed model is easy to use and enables users to sauté, cook, simmer, stir and blend.

Heike concluded by telling me that all Lakeland

products come with a three-year guarantee. If I was not satisfied with the product, I could return it for a refund, for up to three years, as long as I retained my receipt, she said.

Nespresso Boutique, Sidwell Street

JOINT WINNING MULTIPLE

THIS store opened on the second floor of John Lewis in October 2018. After a couple of minutes of browsing, I was

greeted by Jana. She started her presentation by asking what kinds of coffee are consumed at home and I said that I prefer espresso, while my husband likes flat whites. Jana presented two Nespresso models from the

Vertuo range. The first model she showed me was the Nespresso Vertuo model, which was priced at £98.

She said the Vertuo uses a smart barcode reading system to tailor its blending technique to suit the chosen capsule. She said that from an espresso to a large mug, the Nespresso Vertuo offers choice, simplicity and flavour.

The second model Jana presented was the Nespresso Vertuo Plus machine with Aeroccino milk frother, which was priced at £249.99. She said that this model comes with a three-year guarantee.

Heike was on good form. She gave good overviews of both products and the store was well presented.

Old Tiverton Road THIS store was established in 1978. I was looking to buy a new vacuum cleaner. Inside the store, I was greeted by Simon. I said that after years of buying supermarket vacuum cleaners, I wanted to buy a lighter, reliable cleaner as my wife is disabled. Simon went to the window display and returned with a Bosch Athlet model (BCH625K2GB), which was priced at £159.99. He said the model offers powerful cleaning results across all floor surfaces and bagless cleaning, with a 60-minute run time. The second model Simon presented was a Hoover model (TH31 SM01 001), which was priced at £64.99. He explained that the product’s brush bar can be raised and lowered to suit the surface you are vacuuming.
