One home appliance brand that is constantly monitoring home design trends to reflect in its growing product portfolio is Sabichi Homewares, as Director, Sachin Bagga, explains.
“As customers buy more into coloured
and retro style kettles and toasters, having co-ordinated appliances to sit with them is essential,” he says. “At Haden, we base all our products on being quintessentially British and paired with great colour and design we create unique product our customers love! “The Putty colour in our Haden Dorset range [pictured], for example,
is reminiscent of muddy walks in the charming English countryside.” Mr Bagga confirms the manufacturer will “absolutely continue” with this retro theme for the year ahead. “It’s part of our brand identity and something our customers continue to buy into.” He also explains that there are some exciting product developments in the pipeline too. “With our combination of colour and design used we’ve encapsulated some real retro products that we’re really excited to launch! So watch this space.”
Elsewhere, kitchen appliance manufacturer, Russell Hobbs, has launched a new kettle modelled on the original K-series from 1955. With the same distinctive body shape and sleek black handle, it will come in two colours – brushed stainless steel and copper. “We’ve kept the iconic shape and style that made the original K-series so popular and added in the latest features to suit the modern-day consumer,” comments
Russell Hobbs Marketing Manager,
Dominic Lewis. “We hope this kettle will bring both a touch of nostalgia and vintage style – coupled with superb functionality – into kitchens across the UK.” The manufacturer has also recently launched a brand new breakfast range. The Honeycomb collection features an on-trend textured geometric design to easily makeover any kitchen. Launching in four colours – black, cream, white
Italian manufacturer, Smeg, is also expanding its ever-growing range of kitchen-top appliances with the addition of a handy milk frother.
This fancy accompaniment to the morning
coffee routine, available in red, pastel pink, white, pastel green, pastel blue, black and cream, is suitable for crafting the perfect cup of coffee, from cappuccinos, lattes, flat whites and even coffee art, the company says. Laura Jones, Head of Products at Smeg,
tells ERT that retro 50s style design is lending itself to the appliance market and is continuing to drive consumer decisions when purchasing SDA products. “Colour is an important element here with
reds, creams and blacks having always been popular. Consumers are increasingly seeking sugary pastel shades, including pink, green, blue and white – perfect for anyone looking for something a little softer. “Our SDA products are a great route to accessorising with colours in the kitchen and also provide a great access point to the Smeg brand for those who don’t have space or the budget for larger appliances.”
and grey and finished with premium stainless steel accents – the range comprises a 1.7 litre kettle as well as a two- and a four-slice toaster and it takes inspiration from textural hive structures found in the natural world.

Mr Lewis continues: “We wanted to create a
directional yet timeless collection to instantly restyle the kitchen and add a fresh touch to home interiors across the UK. Intertwining texture inspired by nature and contemporary features, the Honeycomb range makes you feel at home.”
“With customisation set to be an important consumer trend in 2020,” Mr Baker continues, “manufacturers need to offer appliances in a variety of colours wherever possible. The Salieri is already available in stainless steel or white glass so we’re sure that the black glass version will be another hit with consumers and designers.”
