Shopfloor TAKE A TOWN
Sevenoaks Sound & Vision,
Flying Horse Walk
This store is located inside a shopping arcade located at the heart of Nottingham city centre. I was looking to use my NAS drive to create a streaming system in my lounge and office.

Inside the store, Simon presented the Bluesound POWERNODE (N330), which was priced at £849. He said that ideal speakers for my office would be from Bowers & Wilkins (607 S2), priced at £449. He said these speakers are perfect for enjoying your music or providing surround sound as part of a home theatre system. For
the lounge, Simon recommended another Bowers & Wilkins model (606 S2), which were priced at £579. He offered to put details of the products he had presented in a quote, and said that he would include a free pair of Sennheiser CX True Wireless headphones, which usually retail at £119.
Appliance Village, Derby Road, Stapleford
This is a double-fronted store, located just off junction 25 of the M1, and the retailer offers free local delivery within a 15-mile radius of its base. I was looking for a new fridge-freezer for my kitchen. Inside the store, I was greeted by Babs, who asked if
I needed any help. He presented two models, starting with one from Hotpoint (HCIH50TI1WUK), which was priced at £499.99. Babs said the large fridge offers three spill-proof glass shelves and three door balconies, and the model also features a humidity-controlled drawer to keep fruit and vegetables fresh and crisp. He added that a dedicated wine rack is included. The second model Babs presented was from Bosch (KGN39VWEAG) and priced at £649.
He said that this model comes with
VitaFresh, which he said keeps food fresh for longer in climate-controlled drawers at near zero degrees. Babs said that delivery would cost £10 and it would be £30 to take the old appliance away.

Babs gave a good overview of both models. The store seemed quite dark inside.

Simon did a good job, but he did not mention any kind of demonstration; the store looked very well presented.
Currys, Castle Marina Retail Park
This store is located in the corner of a busy retail park, next to Furniture Village and opposite Carpetright and Tapi Carpets..
I was looking to buy my first dishwasher. Inside the store, I headed to the mezzanine level and noticed that there were several members of staff walking along the aisles. I found the dishwasher display and noted that there
were 25 full-size dishwashers on display, ranging from a Logix model (LDW60W22), priced at £229, to a Miele model (G7110SC), priced at £1,249. After two minutes of browsing, Vicky encouraged me to look at the number of place settings, the energy rating, the machine’s colour, the brand and the price. I said that with four adults and a teenager in my family that I’d need a high number of place settings. She presented a model from Hisense (HS673C60WUK), which was priced at £529, and offered 16 place settings and a separate cutlery drawer. She said that next-day delivery would cost £30, or the price would drop to £20 if I could wait a couple of days for it.
John Lewis, Victoria Centre,
Milton Street
This store has been in the Victoria Centre since the shopping centre opened in 1972. I was looking to buy a washing machine and inside the store I took the escalator to the second floor and within a few steps I walked past three staff members that were deep in conversation. Here, I browsed the 28 washing machines on display. The
first product I liked was a 9kg from
Samsung (WW90T684DLH), priced at £570. The price ticket highlighted a 1,400 spin speed and was rated A for energy. The second product to catch my eye was a 9kg model from Siemens (WG44G290GB), priced at £699. Like the first model,
this product
had a 1,400 spin speed and was rated A for energy.

Vicky did a good job, gave a basic overview of the dishwasher, but did not attempt to close the sale. The store was well merchandised.

At these
challenging times, it’s best for all customers to at least be approached; ignore customers at your peril! The store was well presented.
