“We’ve now extended the screen sizes, from 32- to 85-inches, as demand continues to pull through from the market,” says Mr Sheffield.
The latest iteration of The Frame introduces a new matte finish screen, for a more canvas-like effect. Just add one of the many optional picture frame bezels, and the artistic illusion is complete. A secondary selling point to note is that this matte screen treatment also combats glare, which makes The Frame more versatile than most when it comes to placement in the average room There’s a wide variety of paintings to display on The Frame, including works by the Old Masters – although consumers do need to purchase an Art Store subscription to access them. The Frame can also display an owner’s photographs, if preferred.
A perfect partnership
Samsung is moving more overtly into the interior design space in 2023, in collaboration with Philips Hue. A partnership announcement was made at this year’s CES. The tie-up allows Hue lighting systems, in all their various guises, to sync with any Samsung
TV via the SmartThings app (SmartThings support is native to Samsung’s Tizen connected TV platform). “I think that’s just a good example of just how we’re building out the SmartThings ecosystem,” says Mr Nathan, “we’re bringing partnerships on board and exploring how we can manifest them within the home.” Samsung’s collaboration with Philips Hue does, inevitably, beg the question: what does Philips TV (aka TP Vision) actually make of this development, given that Ambilight is so core to its own lifestyle TV proposition?
“Actually, I say it’s a good thing,” Philips
Product Manager, Lutz Harder, tells ERT. “It’ll raise awareness of Ambilight, and demonstrate just how good our out-of-the-box Ambilight solution is...” Mr Harder says Philips will be announcing its own partnership collaborations soon enough, as Ambilight celebrates 20 years in 2024. “This is something to look forward to,” he says. “I think there will be a few interesting partnerships announced, and there’s still lots of development to come.” >>
