“Vortx Air Fryers from Tower, RKW’s own

brand, come in various guises – like the 10-in-1 Digital Air Fryer Oven with Rotisserie and our Dual Baskets Air Fryers [pictured left] have been selling exceptionally well. We’ve sold over 2,000,000 air fryers since January 2022!” Mr Barton adds: “Tower was the number two SDA brand in November 2022 and we have an aggressive development roadmap ready to launch this year and next to strengthen our market position even further.” Thanks to Vortx technology, food cooks 30 per

cent faster and uses less power than conventional ovens, according to RKW. Consumers can save on up to 70 per cent on their energy by simply switching to air fryer cooking. And there’s also Tower’s recently-launched seven- litre Steam Air Fryer. Steaming is widely known as one of the healthiest cooking methods, helping to lock in nutrients and flavour more effectively.

Clever and compact The compact nature of mini ovens is great for smaller homes, as they sit neatly on the counter-top taking up hardly any space at all. Igenix has a range (bottom of page) – distributed in the UK by Bluestem Group – from 30 litres up to a generous 60-litre option. There’s even the choice of built-in double hotplates, making the variety of food that can be prepared even larger while only using one appliance.

On the theme of energy saving, these mini ovens do not require as much energy to cook as conventional ovens,

and

much faster too so an attractive choice for any time-poor consumer.

Also from Bluestem, 2023 sees the introduction of three 18-litre Electric Mini Ovens into Ariete’s Vintage range. Compact, yet with a cooking cavity that can hold a 30cm plate, these Mini Ovens allow the option of turning on both elements, or only the top or bottom element separately, which works well for grilling and defrosting. Carole Anne Wilson, Sales Manager at Bluestem Group, says: “Customers have busy lives and don’t always have time to keep an eye on the cooking process; with this in mind, these Mini Ovens come equipped with a 60-minute timer so users can get on with other things while the appliance does its job in the background.” A relatively new market segment for another brand, Smeg recently launched a brand new freestanding microwave (right). It’s inverter technology provides continuous emissions of microwaves at precise temperatures, which means it is possible to cook and defrost food in a more gradual and consistent way. This prevents any abrupt temperature peaks, and therefore preserves taste, nutrients and vitamins in food. Explains Richard Mackey, Product Manager at Smeg: “This speeds up cooking, defrosting and re-heating programmes to make this microwave approximately 30 per cent quicker than a standard one. It’s the perfect appliance for saving time and money. “As well as being quieter when in use compared to standard models, our microwave uses approximately 10 per cent less energy when in use and 50 per cent less in standby mode.”

Using a microwave for cooking can certainly help consumers save money on their utility bills.

For example, according to AMDEA research, it only costs 4p to cook a baked potato in a microwave compared to £1.04 in an oven… Beko’s Marketing Director UK and Ire, Vijay says when considering this

Bhardwaj, statistic,

it’s clear to see why consumers are purchasing microwaves as a cost-efficient cooking solution. “Our microwaves are designed to save time and effort as well,” he goes on. “Whether users are re- heating leftovers or defrosting their meal, helpful features like the AutoCook menu automatically set the cooking time and power level for certain foods. And selected Beko microwaves also feature our AutoDefrost function, which senses the weight of frozen food and automatically sets the defrost time.” Meanwhile, the 30-litre 1,000W Digital Combination Microwave from Igenix “perfectly bridges the gap between a conventional oven and a microwave”, the brand says. “So as well as the functions of a regular microwave, this also offers the features of a conventional oven, with baking, roasting and grilling options,” adds Bluestem’s Ms Wilson. >>
