“We are always developing appliances that seamlessly fit into consumers’ everyday life, and we are working on some further new launches for this year across the Hoover and Candy brands.” When space is required for a large family, the
XXL Bosch fridge-freezers are another option, offers Ms Posner. At least 70cm wide, these models offer significantly more capacity than standard-width products. “They have become hugely popular because people started buying food in greater quantities during the pandemic,” she adds.
Fridge functionality Of course, sometimes people require a little more functionality from their fridge. It might be easy- opening doors, like Hitachi’s touch-free Auto Door technology, where automatic LED lights illuminate

the handles and they open with a simple hand wave, or even a classic water and ice dispenser. Hisense has a range of non-plumbed or plumbed
dispensers, or from LG, Craft Ice InstaView is one of the first refrigerators with a built-in ice maker that produces spherical ice, which melts slower than ‘standard’ ice cubes to preserve the flavour of drinks for longer… Who knew!! Over at Samsung, consumers can get the same easy
access to chilled water with what it calls its Beverage Centre – a water dispenser hidden inside the fridge door, which contributes to the aesthetics of the appliance by leaving a smooth, uncluttered exterior. And that’s another crucial point. The fridge-
freezer can be the heart of the kitchen with all family members heading to it multiple times a day; so whether it’s built-in and hidden from view, or it stands out as the main attraction of the room, this product needs to look and feel great.
This month saw Samsung expand its Bespoke
line-up with the new RF8000 French Door Refrigerator (below). A four-door model, available in Bespoke Colour Metal Navy, Samsung says it is a centrepiece that consumers will be able to customise to their own décor.
Mr Cookson from Hisense adds that sleek and
recessed finishes give a modern and clean look to any kitchen. The Chinese brand is also exploring statement colours complementing interior trends. “Our new retro-look Total No Frost fridge-freezers
come in a range of colours to brighten up your kitchen whilst giving it some edge and style,” he says. Meanwhile, Mr Glass adds: “The varied
Statesman refrigeration range includes both freestanding and integrated models, plus under- counter models, available in a range of colours and bringing a great choice of space-saving solutions for the kitchen, with their reversible doors and adjustable shelves.”
