while retaining the independence and local identity that make them unique.

“Over the past 25 years, we’ve worked closely with both our members and approved suppliers to create opportunities, drive growth and strengthen the independent retail sector. We firmly believe that when independent

retailers succeed, it creates

stronger partnerships, greater value for suppliers and a healthier, more resilient industry for everyone. That mission remains as important today as it was when Sirius was founded.”

Sirius Buying Group marked a major milestone in its history as it celebrated its 25th anniversary during the 2026 Annual Conference, held from 17th–19th May at the five-star Tivoli La Caleta in Tenerife.

The event brought together Sirius Members,

Approved Suppliers and industry partners for three days of business, networking and collaboration, while also providing the perfect backdrop to reflect on a quarter-century of supporting independent electrical appliance and kitchen retailers across the UK. Founded in 2001 by four independent retailers, Sirius was created to help businesses work together more effectively and strengthen their position in an increasingly competitive marketplace. Twenty-five years later, the Group has grown into one of the UK’s leading buying groups, representing more than 175 members and an extensive network of approved suppliers and service providers. The anniversary celebrations formed a key part of

this year’s conference programme, which combined supplier presentations, networking opportunities and dedicated business meetings designed to help members maximise opportunities for growth throughout the year ahead. The conference officially opened with a Welcome

Lunch sponsored by AEG, followed by a Sirius Member- only presentation and Approved Supplier presentations. Delegates then gathered for the Welcome Dinner Drinks

Reception, sponsored by Bluestem Group, and the Welcome Dinner, sponsored by Haier, providing an opportunity to reconnect and celebrate the Group’s achievements in a relaxed poolside setting. Day two focused on Approved Supplier

presentations, giving members valuable insight into the latest product innovations, retail initiatives and market developments from across the industry. The Business Lunch was sponsored by Midea Group, while the day’s networking activities continued with the After-Day Drinks Reception sponsored by JJO. The final day centred around dedicated one-to-one meetings between Members and Approved Suppliers, creating valuable opportunities to discuss business plans, exclusive promotions and future opportunities. Refreshments and hospitality throughout the day were supported by Eurosonic Group, BSH Home Appliances and Rangemaster. The conference concluded with a Gala Dinner and anniversary celebrations, sponsored by Hotpoint, where attendees came together to recognise the achievements of the Group and the partnerships that have helped shape its success over the past 25 years. Reflecting on the milestone, Steve Jones, Managing Director of Sirius Buying Group, said: “Reaching our 25th anniversary is a significant milestone for Sirius. From day one, our objective has been to help independent retailers thrive in an increasingly competitive and fast-changing market,

Over the past two and a half decades, Sirius has evolved alongside the industry, expanding from its original white goods focus to support retailers operating across major domestic appliances, small domestic appliances and kitchen retailing. Members have successfully navigated significant industry challenges, including Brexit-related disruption, the Covid-19 pandemic, supply chain pressures and rising operating costs, supported by the collaborative strength of the Sirius network. Today, Sirius offers members access to a wide range of business support services beyond traditional buying group benefits, including extended warranties, merchant services, WEEE collections, business insurance and other operational solutions designed to help independent retailers remain competitive. Commenting on the success of the conference,

Mark Veysey, Operations Director at Sirius Buying Group, added: “Our Annual Conference continues to play an important role in bringing our Members and Approved Suppliers together in a way that encourages meaningful conversations, collaboration and long-term opportunities. “This year’s event was made even more special

as we celebrated 25 years of Sirius. It was fantastic to reflect on how far the Group has come while also focusing on the opportunities ahead. The strength of the relationships across our network remains the foundation of our success, and we are incredibly grateful to our Members, Approved Suppliers and sponsors for their continued support.”
