For this issue, ERT’s team of mystery shoppers visited, and assessed, eight stores across the Lancashire seaside town

Salisbury’s Gas & Electrical, Garstang Road South, Wesham

This business, established in 1972, is a family- run appliance store in Wesham.

I was looking to add integrated ovens into my kitchen and I, ideally wanted to have two matching appliances, to sit side-by-side in cabinet towers. Inside the store, I was greeted by Chris, who started by showing me Neff’s Slide & Hide door innovation, where the oven door is pushed inside the cavity and discreetly hidden from view. Chris presented two Neff ovens, both of which featured Slide & Hide.

One of the Neff models (B54CR71GOB), priced at £999, had eight functions and Chris explained that it was also a pyrolytic oven. He explained that pyrolytic ovens clean themselves by heating to approx. 500°C for two-four hours, turning grease and food residue into ash.

He said that delivery of the ovens would be

free. For installation, I would need to confirm that my property has a 32-amp supply ready to use, the retailer would charge £45 to wire the oven to the hard-wired connection and fit it, and £30 for the second oven.

JOINT WINNING INDEPENDENT

Sales skills: 5/5

Store presentation: 5/5

Total score: 10/10

Chris knew his stuff and he showed off his knowledge well – his explanation of pyrolytic cleaning and details of fitting the oven were attempts to close the sale. The store was well presented.
