The record-breaking moment took place at half time on 29 March, when hundreds of supporters gathered in the stands and across the stadium
connected and played Majority Move WR Bluetooth speakers in unison from a single audio source. It was made possible by Auracast Bluetooth technology, as featured in the Majority Move WR speaker which joins the current range of Majority Move speakers. Auracast allows the broadcast of a sound signal to several speakers or headphones at once. The coordinated playback surpassed the previous world record of 1,000 speakers, held by JBL since 2017, marking a
landmark achievement for both the club and Majority. In preparation for the attempt, attendees were invited to collect a Majority Move WR speaker upon arrival. Families, local schools and members of the Cambridge community joined together for the attempt, each activating their device simultaneously during the half-time break. Participants were able to take the speaker home as a thank-you in helping break the world record.
JD.com launches Joybuy platform in UK with
next-day delivery and long-term growth plans British e-commerce market. It will operate from distribution centres in Milton Keynes and Luton, forming the backbone of a logistics model designed to compete on speed and reliability. At launch, the retailer is offering next-day delivery to around 17 million UK households, with additional same-day delivery available on orders placed before 11am in selected urban areas. Orders placed before 11pm are expected to arrive the following day. The launch follows
JD.com’s decision to withdraw
from potential acquisitions of UK retailers Currys in 2024 and Argos in 2025. Instead of entering the market through acquisition, the company has opted to build its own platform, infrastructure and customer base.
JD.com’s UK debut forms part of a wider
European rollout, with the Joybuy platform launching simultaneously in Germany, the Netherlands, France, Belgium and Luxembourg. The expansion builds on the group’s €2.2bn (£1.9bn) acquisition of German electronics retail group Ceconomy, strengthening its supply chain and retail footprint across the region. The company’s entry into the UK comes at a time of shifting dynamics in the e-commerce sector, increasing competition around delivery speed and customer experience.
