This business was established in 1976 and it moved to its current location in June 2020. I was looking to buy a tumble dryer. Inside the store, I was greeted by Graham, who was sat at a desk. I explained what I was looking for and Graham asked if I was looking for a condenser or vented tumble dryer, and he explained the difference between the two. I said a condenser dryer would be ideal.

Lakeland, Stewarts Garden Centre, Christchurch


This store is a located in the grounds of a garden centre, which is two miles east of Christchurch town centre. The store was advertising air fryers in its window display, so I wanted to know more about the product line-up and the features. Alice approached me; I explained what I was looking for and she immediately led me to the air fryer display. The first product she showed me was the Lakeland Adjustable Air Fryer, which was priced at £119.99. She demonstrated the divider, which can turn the one large basket in to two smaller baskets. Alice mentioned that the model has a nine-litre capacity and eight pre- set cooking functions. She said the model was currently offered with a saving of £30.

The second model Alice presented was the Instant Vortex Versazone Air Fryer, which was priced at £199.99. This model had an 8.5-litre capacity and Alice mentioned that baskets could be set to different cocking times, which finish at the same time. Like the previous model, it too had eight-pre-set functions.


Currys, Mallard Road Retail Park, Bournemouth


This store was sandwiched between branches of the Barnardo’s Superstore and Smyths Toy Superstore on a busy retail park.

freezers. Inside the store, I walked straight to the products, which were merchandised at the back of the shopfloor. I browsed the 10 American-style fridge-freezers on display and after a couple of minutes, I was joined by Maryam, who asked I needed any help. She began by asking what size I had available for a product and whether I’d want an ice-making model. I said that I wanted a big model, with no restriction on size and that I did not want an ice-making product. Maryam showed me the LG InstaView (GSVV80PYLL), which was priced at £1,399. She immediately pointed out that the actual price of the product was £1,299, as part of a promotion. Maryam demonstrated the InstaView feature by knocking twice on the glass panel, and she encouraged me to have a try. She said the InstaView is key as it reduces the amount of time the door is open.
