This store is situated in a busy area with a bus stop located right outside. I was looking to replace my TV. Inside the store, Manager Paul greeted me and asked if I needed any help. I explained that I bought a 43-inch TV about six years ago and I had space for a bigger TV. Paul asked what size would best suit the space and he showed me 55- and 65-inch sets. I said that a 65 would be ideal. He presented a 65-inch LG model (OLED65G36LA), which was priced at £1,899, 10 per cent off the usual price. Paul explained that Micro Lens Array technology uses a layer of tiny lenses to improve the screen’s focus.
I said that I’d like to put this on the wall and Paul showed me the rear of the TV and explained that a wall bracket, specifically for this TV, is included with the set. He then mentioned that a current promotion on this TV includes a free LG sound bar (GX Bar), which is normally priced at £999.
He told me that the TV was on pre-order. By joining the pre-order queue, I’d get the discounted TV price and the sound bar offer.

John Lewis & Partners at Home, Poole Retail Park, Poole
This store opened on 22 October 2009, and 40,000sq ft of shopfloor space – this was the first time John Lewis & Partners moved into an existing retail unit.
I was looking to buy a washing machine. In the home laundry department, I was greeted by Finlay, who asked if I needed any help. I explained that I was looking for a big drum washing machine. Finlay presented two models. The first product was a 10kg (WGG25402GB) washing machine from Bosch, priced at £549. He explained that this was a £100 saving on the usual price. Finlay added that the machine comes with three years’ extra cover – direct from Bosch – while the machine was also on a free install promotion.
The second model Finlay presented was an 11kg model (F4Y711WBTA1) from LG, which was priced at £699. He said that this model comes with three years’ extra cover – direct from LG. Finlay said that installation of the LG model would cost £25; the removal of an old appliance would cost £25 too, and delivery would be free.

Currys, Wessex Gate Retail Park, Poole
This store front has a double-fascia and takes pride of place on the retail park that also features DFS and Pets at Home. I was looking to buy a range cooker. Inside the store, I located the range cookers and I noticed that the store has 29 range cookers on display from brands including Flavel, Kenwood, Leisure, Rangemaster and Smeg. After five minutes of browsing I was joined by Ellie, who asked if she could help. She asked if I knew what type of range cooker I was looking for. I said that I have the space for a wide range cooker, so a 110cm wide model would be ideal, and I said that I’d like a range cooker with an induction hob.
After consulting with her iPad, Ellie said that
there weren’t any suitable models on display, but, instead, she showed me some models on the tablet. There were four suitable range cookers on the iPad and Ellie presented one of them. The Rangemaster model (Nexus SE 110 Electric Induction Range Cooker – Slate & Chrome) was priced at £3,849, a £100 saving on the usual price. The model features three electric ovens and a separate electric grill. The hob features a five-zone electric induction hob, while the main oven features assisted cleaning.
