lot has changed over the past 45 years, Governments, recessions, building rgulations, building techniques, and many, many crises. Palace Chemcials’ has managed to navigate its way through a pandemic, the 2011 mortgage crisis and even a fire, which took place at its facility in 2000.
It opened its doors in 1978 and supports the global trade of adhesives and sealants. Simon Clough, sales director, says: “For all those years, the company has manufactured and supplied countless varieties of adhesives, sealants and building chemicals to the construction, tiling and DIY sectors – usually to great acclaim. The products and brands that Palace is responsible for are household names – such as Palace Grab & Fix, Palace Super-Grip, Palace Rapid Setting Trade-Flex and Langlow Ready Mixed Wall-Covering Adhesive. “Palace Chemicals has grown to become the largest serving independent manufacturer of building-related products in the UK. We have a broad range of products and we pride ourselves on our reliability in terms of product quality, customer service excellence and consistent product availability.
Staff longevity
“We are most proud of is that we can probably claim the title of having the longest- serving workforce in the industry. “A substantial number of staff and management team members have worked at Palace Chemicals for 30 or 40 years, or more – and the company attracts many family members of serving staff into its fold once they have heard about the positive culture and proud heritage of the firm. Indeed, the average length of service across the company is over 20 years.”
He continues: “The only objective of ours that hasn’t really changed since the beginning is our commitment to manufacturing the best quality, best value products on the market and providing unrivalled customer service.” Following Palace’s 45th anniversary, it

“We continued to invest and chase our zero waste-to-landfill produced during our operating processes. And the firm continues in its mission to remove plastics and non- recyclable packaging from its system wherever possible.”
Two years ago, Palace launched its ‘Lite’ range of products as part of its drive for sustainability. It effectively halved the product weight while providing the same coverage. Not only does this benefit the tile fixer, it also halves the carbon footprint in terms of haulage, space and fuel economy during transportation.

Environmental journey “This is a priority for us, and has been for many years,” says Clough. “We began our environmental journey long before the term ‘net zero’ had even been coined. And we are firmly sticking to our sustainability commitment.
“Fortunately, our development and operational processes are extremely robust. Every decision we make, every product we improve, every raw materials order we place, we always question whether it can be achieved more sustainably.
