* Travis Perkins Merchanting figures for 2018 and 2017 here include Travis Perkins, Benchmarx, CCF, BSS, Keyline, PTS, CPS, F & P, but exclude Toolstation and Wickes. ** Jewson figures are those filed with Companies House, rather than the broader Saint Gobain Building Distribution. *** Huws Gray and Ridgeons are quoted separately as that is how the figures are structured. However, even added together, the two still come in just under MKM. **** The figures for Bradfords are for Bradford Building Supplies rather than the wider Bradford & Sons group, because these are the latest available figures. The current figures for the wider Bradford & Sons group are for the year ending April 2018 when turnover was £196m. ***** The figures for AW Lumb are the sum of those for AW Lumb (Midlands) and AW Lumb (Northern).

The more the merchanting landscape changes, the more it stays, more or less, the same. It’s been a very long time since there was anyone other than Travis Perkins at the top of these league tables; the major changes are happening further down the table - in the bottom half of the Premier League and the top half of the Championship League as it were. The influx of investment from external capital companies will have an effect on these tables as time goes on: Parker Building Supplies, Chandlers, Grant & Stone and Rembrand have all changed owners in the last 18 months, following investment from Cairngorm Capital.
