christmas planning/tabletop Setting the scene

Christmas is a time to break out the best china and go all out with table decorations. Special, seasonal tabletop ware that only comes out at Christmas can help to create memories and family traditions that will last generations.

table is a perfect place to conjure this unique atmosphere. According to Inges Christmas Decor, “The feelings of warmth, security and tranquility are reflected in the colour combination of bright crimson and dark fir green. Dark blue and black add a graceful depth to the theme, which is enhanced by gold and white accents.”

T

ablescaping, a portmanteau of ‘table’ and ‘landscaping’, refers to the arrangement of beautiful,

and sometimes heavily decorated, tabletops. Dining tables are typically decorated when celebrations occur - Christmas, birthdays or New Years - and usually includes a grand centrepiece like a flower arrangement or a luxe vase, surrounded by decorative dining accessories.

A time to gather

Nothing highlights the changing of the seasons like a festive feast, and the dining

Local living “This year’s Christmas themes are a celebration of local living, highlighting the importance of community in towns and villages and the shared social moments of daily life though meeting, greeting and eating,” said Lisa Cherry, lead Christmas buyer at John Lewis & Partners. “They pay homage to long-held traditions of markets, fairgrounds and winter festivals, as well as the chance to gather indoors with fun, family activities like decorating the home, trimming the tree and entertaining guests. These themes are rooted in happiness and the small moments that make a special Christmas,

Bringing nature indoors When it comes to trimming up for Christmas, there are so many design ideas to be inspired by that it can be hard to choose a theme. For an effortlessly festive approach to Christmas styling, why not consider decorations with a natural twist, bringing the outdoors in with a matching garland draped artfully across the mantelpiece or staircase? Decking your interiors with green foliage and nature’s treasures can create the effect of a Winter woodland in your home.

Dexam looks to create a brighter future with Star collection

Dexam has partnered with a local charity for the launch of their Star collection this Christmas. The collection consists of table top textiles, kitchen textiles and kitchen accessories. For every item sold in the collection, Dexam will donate to Stonepillow, a charity who respond to the challenges facing people experiencing homelessness and rough sleeping. What’s more, the Dexam Trust will match the funds raised to help feed and support the many homeless this Christmas. The table top textiles include a set of 4 napkins and set of 2 placemats with an all-over star print and a block star, along with an all-over star print table runner. An adult apron, double oven gloves and set of 2 tea towels are also available with a complementary red trim. A variety of kitchen accessories complete the collection: a star beech wooden spoon, two sized red star silicone spatulas, a red star chocolate/ ice mould, set of 3 cake tins, set of 4 napkin rings, bamboo chopping board,

Christmas straws and cookie cutters in different sizes. Howard Bradley, commercial director of Dexam, commented: “For the last three years, our very own sales executive, Michelle Levick, has been volunteering at Stonepillow to feed the homeless on Christmas Day. It is therefore a charity close to Dexam’s heart. With the increasing cost of living they, like many charities, are seeing a decline in donations. They desperately require funding and we are pleased to be supporting them and our local community with our Star collection.”

Debbie Jupe, head of fundraising and communications at

Stonepillow, said: “In 2022 we are expecting to support around 460 homeless people throughout West Sussex – feeding over 100 people two meals a day. Only a small percentage of these sleep on the street, with many of the homeless community hidden; sofa surfing, sleeping in cars, vulnerably housed or at risk of eviction. We are most grateful for Dexam’s valued donation which will help ensure that we can continue this vital work.”
