HOUSEWARES AWARDS 2024

Independent Retailer of the Year (1-3) WINNER: Salamander Cookshop

Salamander Cookshop demonstrated its willingness to promote itself and the products it offers by creating a bespoke look for itself. Achieving this through window posters, from table banners, in-store POS and local print adverts.

Salamander Cookshop’s goal was to bring the retail environment alive and it achieved this through events. It has held fully subscribed evening events with TV Chef Peter Sidwell, KitchenAid’s Anita Davidson, Brewed by Hand’s Luke Powell, and a special Food Walk. Sunday afternoon events included hands-on sessions with a local Artisan Butcher. These initiatives, along with its participation in “Discover Wimborne” and hosting a Chamber of Commerce breakfast, promote both its store and Wimborne, in Dorset.. Excellent customer service, product knowledge, and hands-on experience set us apart. We organize monthly staff training with supplier support, enhancing expertise and customer satisfaction. This commitment was recognized by winning the Excellence in Housewares Retail Training award in 2022. Salamander Cookshop’s IT and digital communication efforts, were also recognised by the Good Retail Bricks and Clicks award in 2021. Since then, it has continued to evolve.
