inspired home show preview
The countdown to Chicago begins!
Three years after announcing the rebrand of the International Home + Housewares Show to ‘The Inspired Home Show’, show organisers are finally presenting the new experience to the industry. Thousands of housewares leaders will gather from around the globe as the industry reconnects around innovation and inspiration at The Inspired Home Show 2022.
T
he Inspired Home Show, IHA’s global home and housewares marketplace, will be held 5-7 March at Chicago’s
McCormick Place Complex, and marks the first in-person gathering since 2019 for the leading US show. Confirmed exhibitors include more than 300 first-time participants in the show, according to IHA. IHA management has engaged with leading
retailers to update them on the plans for the 2022 show, with retailers explaining that they value the show for its comprehensive view of the home and housewares business - prefering the new product and vendor discovery opportunities and face-to-face engagement offered by the in-person marketplace. “In every conversation I have had with major
retail buyers over the last several months, the need to get back to face-to-face events is a consistent theme,” said Sean Daly, vice president, member and buyer relations for IHA. “They were already challenged to find new brands and products over the last two years, and now, with the supply chain crisis, the need to diversify their supplier base is critical.

COVID-19 precautions Although the Omicron variant has presented an unexpected challenge to the event, organisers are going ahead while taking every precaution. Following the January Board of Directors’ meeting, the IHA announced that Covid-19 safety-related policies and protocols have been established. Before collecting a badge at McCormick Place that provides access, all exhibitors and attendees will be required to demonstrate proof of vaccination OR produce a negative Covid-19 test that had been administered in the previous 72 hours. As an added safety precaution, the last day of the 2022 show has been eliminated, with the show resuming its normal four-day pattern in March of 2023. Details including full instructions on how to provide vaccination or testing information will be available at www.
