Housewares supplier Horwood has revealed details of a new biannual campaign for its Stellar and Judge brands. Each Spring and Autumn,

ceases trading Orla Kiely, the fashion and homeware brand known for retro-inspired patterns, has closed its stores and website following the collapse of its parent company Kiely Rowan. However, the home and design licensing business will still be sold through partners. Kiely Rowan is owned by Irish fashion designer Orla Kiely and her husband Dermott Rowan. A statement on
www.orlakiely.com said: “Kiely Rowan Plc, the retail and wholesale fashion business of Orla Kiely, has ceased trading as of Monday, 17 September 2018. This means our retail stores in London and Kildare and our online business have been closed. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. “Orla Kiely’s Home and Design licensing business will not be impacted, and its selection of accessories and homewares will continue to be sold through its distribution partners. “Thank you for embracing our brand and designs throughout the years and for your ongoing support. Orla, Dermott and the Team.”
Horwood will be creating a seasonal initiative which will be supported by in-store displays, merchandise, recipes, and social media graphics. Horwood marketing manager James Robinson said: “By creating appealing in-store displays across a family of products, we believe the combination of activities will increase the appeal to the end-consumer.” The first campaign launched in

Bira names new ceo
The British Independent Retailers Association (bira) has recruited Andrew Goodacre as its new ceo. He will replace Alan Hawkins, who retires after 33 years with bira. Andrew has been ceo of the Residential Landlords Association (RLA) since 2013 and previously held a senior position at the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB). Before that, he worked in the hospitality sector. Bira said: ‘Having increased membership at the RLA and implemented campaigns that raised the profile of small businesses with national and local governments at the FSB, the
Tesco teams up with
Jamie Oliver Celebrity chef and campaigner Jamie Oliver is joining Tesco, as part of a campaign by the supermarket chain to ‘help make it easier for the nation to eat well and live healthier lives’. In September Jamie will front up the retailer’s ‘helpful little swaps’ in-store, where healthier alternatives offer reduced levels of sugar, salt and fat, as well as being cheaper for customers. A basket of ‘helpful little swaps’ will cost 12% less than a regular basket. Jamie will also support Tesco’s work to help its staff and customers cook ‘great value, healthier meals from scratch’. A series of healthier recipes and tips created for Tesco by Jamie will be available in store and online. Many of the ingredients from the recipes will be reduced in price and placed together for convenience for customers, with a focus on British fruit and vegetables.
