The Loop serveware (pictured) connects with the CLARITY trend. The products have sharing, social interaction and informal dining in mind, with a practical design which makes carrying them and passing food around easy, and encourages the creative and mindful presentation of food. The range includes a serving bowl, serve stick and platter - all of which feature a clever, stylish and
practical sectioned design. They are made from porcelain with a glossy glaze (watch out for gloss coming back over the next few years) and the handles are rubberwood – a tropical hardwood that is harvested from a renewable source. All these products are a pleasure to look at and to use.
Black + Blum
Black + Blum’s Box Appetit premium quality collection includes lunch boxes, flasks and water bottles. We’re particularly interested in these stylish, sustainable, high quality ‘on-the-go’
products because, apart from being great for taking food to work, they are also great for road trips, hiking and camping trips - and that links this range to the Eco 2.0 trend. Camping is gradually repositioning itself and becoming increasingly popular with a broader spectrum of people looking to escape the urban environment, by seeking opportunities to connect with nature and switch off from their busy, stressful lives. The most recent research available from Mintel reveals that 17 million camping
trips were taken by UK adults in 2016, and the figure is predicted to rise to over 21 million in 2020. Survey participants said that ‘getting away from it all’ was the key attraction
(42%) followed closely by ‘connecting with nature’ (41%). Most UK campers (68%) are aged between 30 and 49: a design savvy, eco conscious bracket of consumers. The range is made from stainless steel, rather than plastic, so it’s robust and durable; and in this way, addresses sustainability. The food flask is vacuum insulated, keeping food hot for six hours or cold for eight hours. It features a spoon made of BPA-free polypropylene, which is attached by
a vegan leather strap. The thermo pot, with natural cork lid, has a wide neck opening which makes it easy to eat from. It comes with a spoon which is snugly magnetised to the side of the pot – ingenious. The leak-proof stainless steel and bamboo boxes can be used to transport and store food but you can also cook or reheat food in the base directly over heat. The straps are silicone – we like the earthy Olive green colour best.
