eptember 1983 was a momentous month for the UK housewares industry. It marked the birth of ‘Housewares Magazine’ – the first
business-to-business magazine to be published for housewares retailers and their suppliers in this country – and the opening of the first all- housewares UK trade exhibition: the original Exclusively Housewares show in London. As founder editor Jane Oliphant wrote at the time: “Our aim for ‘Housewares Magazine’ is a simple one. It is to help retailers run more profitable businesses, by providing a regular source of practical ideas and new product information, with special emphasis on the marketing, merchandising and display of housewares, and the key people and companies.” Thirty-five years on, it’s an aim that we still hold
