show news Véritable

Linking with the ECO 2.0 trend, Véritable is leading the way in small scale indoor urban farming, enabling everyone to grow fresh produce, including herbs and baby vegetables, at home all year round. An important feature of The Wellbeing Kitchen is the inclusion of living food: visible and easily accessible, that can be harvested when wanted. We predict there will be greater demand in the future for a variety of

products that enable produce to be grown indoors – turning areas of our kitchens into vibrant ecosystems that will allow us to have a closer relationship with the food we eat. People pursuing healthier lifestyles care deeply about the source and sustainability of the food they eat, and they are slowly starting to hold their kitchen products to the same standards of wellness and sustainability. The Véritable Garden is self-sufficient in terms of irrigation, lighting and

nutrients. You just plug it in, insert the seed blocks, and fill the reservoir. It creates the ideal growing conditions for each plant - guaranteeing four to six months of regular harvests that are ready to be eaten in as little as four weeks. The unit is recyclable and the seed blocks are 100% biodegradable.

Joseph Joseph and Brabantia

There are two similar product concepts here: a storage podium from Joseph Joseph and square and round canisters from Brabantia. Both are good examples of product design that supports the principles of ‘The Wellbeing Kitchen’, which forms part of the CLARITY trend. The first step towards establishing a Wellbeing Kitchen is for kitchen and dining spaces to be centred on simplicity. This has a therapeutic effect because it results in

an ordered, organised, uncluttered and tranquil environment that is relaxed. Also, the visibility and easy accessibility of healthy produce is key. Food storage solutions should act as a gentle visual reminder to eat well and include healthy

ingredients (such as beans and grains) in meals. Out of sight is out of mind, so these products help consumers to build a habit of awareness as they see the produce on worktops in their food prep areas. Both products have design features that align them with The Wellbeing Kitchen. They are transparent, allowing produce to be seen; they can be stacked; and they

have modular qualities that keep kitchen worktops ordered and promote an organised approach to food storage. Plus, in the case of Brabantia’s canisters, the lid colours are soothing.
