BHETA (British Home Enhancement Trade Association) has purchased the two minority shareholdings in Brooke House Exhibitions - owner of the co- Located Exclusively Housewares and Exclusively Electrical shows, held annually in London in June - BHETA said both shareholders ‘had expressed a desire to divest their investments’. BHETA was previously the third shareholder in Brooke House Exhibitions. Commenting on the move,


BHETA executive chairman Andrew Weiss said: “Following a strategic review, it became clear that it would be in the best interests of our members to keep


this valuable asset wholly owned by BHETA. “We also felt that by combining


the marketing and operational activities for the events under the BHETA banner, we could continue to invest in ensuring the exhibitions remain major dates for the diary in the housewares and small electricals calendars.” The transaction was completed


following an independent valuation of the business and subsequent recommendations from BHETA’s advisors. Simon Boyd has been retained


in a role of marketing and operations consultant and will continue to deliver the event,

Black + Blum introduces new look for 2019


Design-led housewares company Black + Blum is entering 2019 with a repositioning of its business. A new brand logo has been


introduced, which will feature on all products. The company will be reinforcing this branding consistency by dropping its various sub-brand names such as Box Appetit and Eau Good in favour of black + blum. Updated packaging featuring the new branding will be phased in during the first quarter of 2019, together with new point-of- sale tools.

BHETA moves to own Exclusively Shows outright

Denby doubles up at Spring Fair


Denby is taking two stands at the Spring Fair, which takes place from February 3 to February 7 at the NEC in Birmingham. In addition to the homeware brand’s regular stand in Hall 9, which will feature its full product portfolio of tabletop and cookware, it will also have a presence in Hall 6 of the trade show, where Denby craftsman Sean Flint will be carrying out pottery making demonstrations by the traditional method of ‘throwing’ on a potter’s wheel. Sean will also be showcasing Denby’s campaign, entitled ‘Denby is Not Just For …’ The company said the aim of this marketing push is to show that ‘Denby has always been ‘Styled by Life’: evolving its ware to meet the lifestyles of every generation - not only for dining, but to serve many purposes - and enjoyed both in the kitchen and around the home’.


New Smidge brand makes show debut


Driven by the desire to reduce the consumption of single-use plastic, new housewares


brand Smidge will launch 90 products at Spring Fair, which takes place from February 3 to February 7 at the NEC in Birmingham. Smidge said its range, which covers a wide


variety of categories from on-the-go through to everyday household usage, includes ‘a unique 100% bio-degradable and recyclable formulation that means no plastic or melamine makes it into the environment’. Targeted at consumers who want to engage in


more environmentally-friendly consumption, the brand said its philosophy is simple: ‘Responsible, affordable, optimistic; giving the consumer a different choice. Smidge doesn’t want to take over the world - we simply want to enable consumers to make that small change which together can make a big difference.’
