During the changeover to flammable refrigerants like R290 or R600a, many manufacturers are confronted with the challenge of safely sealing refrigerant circuits after charging. Vulkan Lokring has been offering the
Lokring Stopper for almost 40 years as a safe solution.
Offering the advantage of a braze-free connection, assembly occurs without heat development. A pneumatic pinch-off and assembly tool is used to put together the Lokring Stopper.
In the first step, the charging tube is pinched-off with the aid of the tool, in order to take off the quick- coupling in the next assembly step. The anaerobic sealant, Lokprep, is then applied to compensate for any unevenness in the surface of the tube. In the final step, the Lokring Stopper is assembled with the same tool, in order to permanently and hermetically seal the charging tube.
Vulkan Lokring is a medium-sized family business and part of the international Vulkan Group. As the developer of the Lokring technology, the brand is a market-leader in the area of braze-free tube connections for refrigerant lines.
Originally developed for the most extreme conditions of manned space flight, Lokring tube joining technology has been continuously developed for applications in the area of commercial refrigeration and air conditioning technology.
In addition to the stopper, Vulkan Lokring offers connections for all joints in refrigerant circuits of refrigerators and freezers. With the aid of these connections, a wide variety of tube materials can be joined with simplicity and process reliability.
Virtually all major manufacturers of refrigerators and freezers use the braze-free Lokring connections in series production and in service areas; at this point in time more, than two billion Lokring connections have been used.
