TCL. Through TCL CSOT, we produce around 30% of the world’s display panels. With 42 R&D institutes and 32 factories worldwide, we are constantly pushing the next generation of display technologies – from RGB Mini LED and Micro LED to IJP OLED. Globally, TCL is number one in Mini LED,
Google TV and Jumbo-sized TVs. In the UK, our 2025 Mini LED line-up has expanded at both entry and flagship levels and is already collecting awards from our 98C7K being awarded 5-stars in What Hi-Fi magazine to our 55P8K QLED TV being awarded a recommended award in Stuff magazine. But our portfolio extends beyond TVs. We offer soundbars, major domestic appliances, air conditioning, mobile devices and energy solutions in the UK, while globally we are active in categories such as HVAC, wearables and door entry systems and we connect all of these products through AI-driven platforms like the TCL Home App, supported by partnerships such as our collaboration with *Deepseek in China.
SH: Sustainability is becoming a bigger focus across the industry. How is TCL responding? AAL: Sustainability is central to our long- term strategy, and we weave this into all our product designs. The latest TVs are designed to be more energy efficient while maintaining performance, and we are introducing more recyclable, responsibly sourced packaging. This is demonstrated by our new remote control, made with ENABS™ Tea-Based Polymer, launching alongside our TCL NXTVision TV range. This material innovation exemplifies circular economy principles by repurposing waste tea residue, helping reduce reliance on fossil fuels while offering a thoughtfully designed user experience. It’s about making sustainability something you can see, touch, and feel in everyday life.
Autumn 2025
At the manufacturing level, TCL is targeting
reduced carbon emissions and greater use of renewable energy across operations. In the UK, we are also working with retail partners on initiatives around recycling and responsible product disposal. It is an ongoing journey, but one where we are making consistent progress.
SH: How is TCL supporting independent electrical retailers? AAL: Independents are a key focus for us, and we invest heavily in driving traffic to our dealers. Every month, our paid media campaigns deliver over 300,000 clicks from engaged consumers to retailer websites. We offer a wide and tailored product range to suit different dealer requirements, alongside premium in-store display furniture, POS materials, a dedicated merchandising team and easy access to digital content via our DAM portal. We also partner on co-op marketing and
drive both online and offline traffic into stores. Crucially, unlike some competitors, TCL does not currently operate a direct-to-consumer model in the UK that bypasses retailers. Our investment is focussed on growing demand for our partners through reliability, promotions and long-term brand campaigns.
SH: How can independents succeed in 2025 and beyond? AAL: I’ve worked with Independent Electrical retailers for almost 20 years now and I believe independents have real advantages that set them apart. Their heritage and people; often many independents will have spanned multiple generations as family businesses and have long- term staff, which builds trust for the consumer. These brand stories should be forefront in the consumer journey whether online or instore. In my experience, staff/colleagues at independents also have a high level of product knowledge, having invested in attending

manufacturer training courses and having built up knowledge of products over time, this gives the consumer the best experience when they come to the actual shopping, especially instore where independents can guide them through the sale to find the perfect product for their needs. I’d love to see this replicated for Independents online through live commerce or onsite with live chat services. The Independent has already invested into a physical retail store, staffing etc., so why not use this to benefit them online. Lastly, the tailored service that an
Independent can offer especially when it comes to installation; consider TV with setup, picture setup to maximise viewing experience, utilising right HDMI ports for inputs, wall mounting our jumbo sized TVs but also the complexity of wall type and mount type (slim/fixed/tilt/ full motion) – the Independents have the knowledge and expertise to add real value in this area.
SH: On behalf of the IER team and readers, many thanks Adam, for your time and hospitality.
