Exclusive Editor Interview:At IFA with TCL
Inspiring Greatness with TCL UK, as IER Managing Editor, Stuart Hopwood meets up with TCL Marketing Director, Adam Aldred-Lane at IFA Berlin
Aſter an in-depth one-to-one tour of the amazing stand, sharing the enthusiasm and wishing to know more about the actual support and benefits for the independent retailer, it was meeting room time and the obligatory sit down with a coffee.
Stuart Hopwood: What are TCL UK’s ambitions in the market right now? Adam Aldred-Lane: Our ambition is very simple; we want to deliver memorable moments for consumers. That might be family time watching a favourite series, friends gathering for a sporting event, or enjoying a true cinematic experience at home. TCL makes those experiences possible through outstanding sound and vision. We call this “affordable premium” giving people access to amazing technology without compromise. For the trade, our role is to help partners upgrade customers into premium technologies. That is why we are investing in premium display shop fittings, training,
merchandising and have added four new go-to- market team members to support dealers. We are also running unique consumer promotions tied to our global partnerships, such as our recently launched campaign where customers can win an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2026 Winter Games in Milan thanks to our recent partnership with the IOC.
SH: How is TCL performing in the UK and what does this say about your growth? AAL: We are delivering really strong growth in the UK TV market. Our market share is now 7% year-to-date, up from 4.6% in 2024. Our strategic focus areas are performing even better with Mini LED sales up 130% and Jumbo screen TVs are
up 140%. We also have a number of long-term key strategic partnerships with Arsenal, Team GB and the IOC, ranging from 3-8 year contracts which showcases our commitment to sustained growth and brand building in the UK. On the product side, consumers can also buy with confidence. Our TVs have won multiple product awards from hugely respected trade publications including the recent IER Best Innovation Award and, also recently we earned a 5-Star Reliability Endorsement from Which? Magazine.
