INTERVIEW

social media outlets we are trying to gain more exposure for the brands throughout the UK. With the continuing demand for images to put on social media to promote businesses, Rieker offers a substantial package of visual aids via a database. This can be accessed by our customers so they can utilise professional images of our articles and lifestyle images on their own websites and social media accounts, thus driving business to their stores and websites.

Q: What are your future developments for the brand? CG: We are constantly developing the Rieker brand in order to produce footwear that sells. The development of the white shoe market over the past few years has not gone un-noticed here at Rieker and for this forthcoming season we are launching a Sport & Style range to complement our traditional ranges, which will now be covered by Comfort & Style. The two collections will run together under the same overall Rieker banner but with two distinct logos to distinguish them… Rieker Sport & Style models will represent a sporty mindset, but also being stylish at the

same time, as well as incorporating current trends and functional features. Comfort & Style will represent all the continuing values that you would expect from Rieker products and will continue to include articles with new and surprising developments.

We must also not forget the sister brand offered by Brevitt-Rieker, Remonte, which was added to the Rieker Group in 2002. This brand carries a long tradition in high quality footwear manufacturing that dates back to 1876. Remonte has also seen exciting growth over the

past few years. For AW24 and SS25 we have also introduced actress and model Elizabeth Hurley as the face of Remonte, which we hope will drive exposure for the brand and in turn increase sales for our customers.

Q: What are your thoughts on the footwear sector in general right now? CG: The footwear sector has been challenging over the past years. COVID seems to have changed what people generally wear and what has become acceptable to wear on different occasions. People’s buying habits have also changed as a result of this.

The weather, although always a major factor in footwear, seems to be having an even greater impact recently; this SS24 season is a prime example, with Summer being a bit hit and miss! Obviously, the rising cost of living has also had a major impact on the footwear trade and at Rieker we are doing our best to try and keep costs down to a minimum. However, despite the difficult trading market, Rieker and our associated brand Remonte have seen good sales for SS24 and orders for AW24, and we hope to build upon this for SS25 and AW25. So watch this space!
