INTERVIEW

a noticeable success based on our forward orders.

Q: What are your aims and objectives for the rest of 2026? DM: I am very proud of what Jess & Lou has achieved in the past eight years. Customer service is something which my team and I place high importance on. In 2025 we increased our sales force, and invested into our warehouse to ensure that, as we continue to grow, we keep to our promise of aiming to deliver orders within 24 hours. We have increased our product range by 125 new products and we are looking to attend yet more trade fairs this year. But, at the core, our aim is

just to get things right for our customers. We offer no minimum orders. All of our products are available individually – so we don’t make you buy more than you need. I believe that brands need to support their customers: if you offer this support, they will return this support and continue to stock our products. This is the key to success in my mind – customer focused.

Q: How to you engage with your consumers via your retail partners and other channels? DM: We have our own trade website, which is

being fully rebuilt this year – we also see all of our customers at trade shows. Our sales team also visit customers across the UK – seeing and touching samples is so important to our stockists.

Q: How are you finding the fashion sector in general? How do you ensure your brand remains relevant and appealing to consumers in this tough climate? DM: Our team have a huge amount of experience in sourcing and retail. Business for

us is incredibly strong, and this I feel is mainly down to how we treat and respect our stockists. I’ve touched on this before, but we try to offer terms which help our customers, rather than hinder them. We don’t enforce forward orders – customers can buy what they want and need (so nothing has to go in the sale at the end of the season) and they can make a very healthy profit from our products. Additionally, when customers

place an order, we’ll get it to them the next day. Any problems, we sort them immediately… and by that, I mean, immediately. I think this sums up why Jess & Lou is growing so rapidly – by helping our stockists to make a profit, we in turn benefit. Without sounding

arrogant, if you take a look at our reviews, they show we are doing things right. Adding new products to the range is the

hardest part, but I am lucky to have some very talented members in our team. It’s a tremendous amount of work, but our design team keep a constant focus on what is trending, especially with colours to ensure our brand is on-trend. We also work to hit particular key price points, so it’s easier to make a great margin – margin is, after all, the most important thing.
